It seems that South Korea(and potentially the rest of the world) are under threat as Kim Jong Un has just recently ordered front-line military units to enter "a wartime state" after an exchange of fire with South Korea, his country's state-run Korean Central News Agency reported Friday.

The announcement, employing bellicose language typical of North Korea, adds to the edgy situation in the region.

The two sides traded artillery fire over their heavily fortified border on earlier afternoon,

Two shells came from the North Korean side, the ministry said, and South Korea fired dozens of shells in response.

As I am typing this, artillery shells are currently being bombarded across the two countries' heavily fortified border.

My personal hopes and best wishes for South Korea, for I really wished there to be no war upon them due to actually having some friends residing there.

Kim has been playing this game for a while now. He talks big yet doesn't actually do nothing. The situation regarding both Korea's has been this way for several years and will keep being this way until change in North Korea actually happens.

Oh please, you don't really believe this BS.
We know nothing about Nord Korea, everything we know from the media is propaganda against them.

Like I said in another thread, this is the same BS like Kim wanted to bomb cinemas because of "the Interview".

North Korea...I mean lil Kim smh.
When will he just stop being a baby
and make peace. I seriously
don't get what goes through his head.

Does he really not care about his people?
If North Korea does do something, both sides looses
thousands die if not millions.

But to the government, it doesn't
matter we're all just a small piece.

They have always been technically at war. They can't enter a state they've always been in. This wartime state existed from their nation's incepton.

I honestly don't think it's necessary to fire dozens of shells in response to NK's attacks. That just gives them more reason to attack. But NK shouldn't have tried to provoke this kind of situation towards SK. I always hoped that there would be just Korea once again. Zzz

I've no doubt Kim actually made such statements. Like always - you have to take North Korea's claims with a bit of salt.

Here you go:

Frankly, that's about the most accurate and up to date intel we have on North Korea - and that was done several years ago. To put it bluntly - the place if ****ing creepy as hell.

That said, recent actions by North Korea show that they are having difficulty maintaining control of the local population. The entire premise of North Korean internal propaganda is that the entire outside world is jealous of North Korea's prosperity and wishes to seize it... but it is only by the cunning and dedication of Kim Jong Il (or, now Kim Il Sun... if I remember correctly - you can't sling a dead cat in Korea without hitting someone named Kim) that has kept the greedy forces of the world at bay.

For years, now, operatives in South Korea have been smuggling information about the outside world into North Korea, and it would seem that some combination of factors is leading to a decrease in stability with the regime. These outward military actions by Kim are essentially a sort of ploy to drum up his own internal image as a strong military leader who is going to keep the world at bay (and any dissidents in check).

Frankly, North Korea doesn't have the capability to really go to war any longer. They aren't complete push-overs, but they simply can't tackle the logistics of supplying food, ammunition, and other supplies to a military operating against South Korea.

Granted - the country is small enough by American standards that a purely land invasion by foot is possible if they do the old "single file through the mine-field" trick (you don't want to be at the head of the line for that one).

The real threat is that Seoul lies within range of some of the artillery units the North has set up near the DMZ. Though exactly how well they work and if anyone still serving in the forces knows how to use them... who knows.

Like I said - I think it's mostly internal posturing. Kim likes to get his flavor of school girl for the day and just enjoy life as the royalty of a small nation-state. North Korea's leaders have typically not had much of an appetite or ambition for conquest.
