Not entirely IIRC, they are sentient to an extent and can die.

Here is what we have been given about bijuu deaths:

A bijuu dies when their jinchuuriki dies, but the bijuu revives later.

That is how it normally happens.

However, we can't be so sure as to whether or not Kurama will revive in this instance because of the manner in which Kurama died.

Kurama's chakara was fused with Naruto's like nuclear fusion and it became an entirely new type of energy. Because of that, we don't know whether or not Kurama's chakara will reassemble itself or if it has been permanently transformed and used up.
