Is it wierd we've seen countless fruits but so few non-combat fruit? We know that this isn't a strictly combat manga it's an adventure action manga adventure first. And thats well and good that most powers involve combat but is a ten to almost 50 ratio anf the reap question is, that if most fruits make you better ALMOST STRICTLY battle wise does that hint to the origin and primary function of the fruits?

What about mansherry's tears, aren't they a DF. I guess that is loosely associated with combat.

I want more fruits like Diamante. At first its seems almost useless and lame but with proper usage, it becomes fit for combat.

So far, Chopper's fruit is SEEMINGLY not battle oriented and Bon Clay's fruit isn't necessary for battle either.

As for origins of the fruits, its probably that the moon people had those crazy powers and when they won the Void Century war, the Gorosei killed them and used Uranus to convert their souls and powers into fruits. Don't quote me on this. Only speculation.

odas been so creative with the applications of each devil fruit(which is a good thing imo) that its prob not possible to come up with a DF that has strictly no combat advantages. Off the top of my head, id think a surgery based devil fruit would be a health focused devilfruit, but law still uses it effectively for combat. im sure theres better examples, but if a non combat based DF does show up it will be because the carrier chooses not to use it for combat, because devilishness are proven to have numerous applications.

as for the examples posted above me, all of them have some combat advantage, being healed to fight longer, being made skinny for a more combat agile body, and as for the clothes..well idk lol but im sure there's some possibility, maybe blinding someone by making a hanker-shift over the opponents eyes. IMO non combat based devil fruits dont exist, only non combat personalitys

there is nothing like combat and non combat df.the way df user use df makes it as combat or non combat.every df can use for both good and bad

Kalifa from CP 9 had the soap soap fruit, the elder marine lady has some fruit that lets her turn her opponents into laundry and hang them up to dry, Alvida has the "smooth smooth" fruit. And those are just off the top of my head. I'm sure there are a few "non combat" devil fruits but the nature of the manga means we're still going to see them used in a combative way (to pretty hilarious effect most times like kaku giraffe stance)

Devil's Fruits primary usage is battle, but with exception for some of them for other purposes.

Infiltration
Manipulation
Control
Preservation
Entertainment
Observation

you can use a df for offensive and as well as defensive. It's your choice to use it for protection and destruction.
But i think we have seen how can a df with out any combat power helps you win a fight
there are soap-soap fruit,wash-wash fruit,suke-suke no mi(invisible)

There really is no clarification other than that its all in how u manipulate the powers u get from the df.

Bon Clay cld maybe turn into Jozu and probably have strenght equal to such a body(physical strenght that is) and as for Kinemon well u do know layers of clothes can b very useful if u r getting hit( corporal punishment was still legal when i went to school in my country so believe me i know) and who said all he can do is coats and blouses he cld do armour and stuff(what u wear can b a good shield and also a weapon in many ways)

If we take devil fruits like gomu gomu or spring spring fruit you can see they are not really made for battle but the users decided to use them that way and started training to fight using the power.
So it comes down to the user of the fruit really , i'd say half of them were originally made for battle like baby 5's or quake quake fruit but they are not a big percent of the shown devil fruits thus far!

Actually you could say the opposite, its just people choose to use them for combat.

Ace/Sabo could us his fruit to power steam engines.
Luffy could be a hot air balloon
All zoans could use their extra strength for manual labour.

The fruits are combat orientated because the characters make them so, and that is because Oda developed a competitive world like the real world, the only difference is people use their fists instead of their brains.

We've seen way more non-combat fruits than you think. People just find a way to pimp them to their fullest potential.
