Let's just disagree. Tsunade was introduced as someone who could not die in a battle that means she could heal herself from any kind of injury ( or at least almost any kind of injury.) Orochimaru noted that even after being injured in a deadly manner she had moved fast enough to save Naruto back then even. So she can die only after she has exhausted all her chakra of which she had plenty. Now she got her chakra replenished twice- By Dan and by Karin.

Then again during war arc everyone has been fighting with improved chakra levels. Let's just say experience made them able to use it more efficient in using it economically but at fullest. :D After all Kakashi had explained Naruto back in Zabuza arc that better control at chakra means being able to do more with less of it. :snick:

And yea it would be fun to see how Kishi writes it if he writes about it at all. The stories I read about Indra and Asura as a kid almost always ended up in Indra running to Shiva, Vishnu or Shakti for help after he ( and his army of Devas) got a thorough beating by one Asura or an Asura army. And then it was actually one of those three who would tame Asura back and make him/them leave Indra alone. :D
Yeah lol I too think it's best that we agree to disagree. It's a much debated topic with mixed opinions. Personally I just think it could have been handled much better. Even if Naruto is considered a manga catered towards a younger audience, it still contained enough violence and vulgarity to justify a few more deaths to impact the audience.

If I'm not mistaken, Asuras are generally considered evil, which would be ironic since the benevolent son of the Sage is named Ashura while his evil brother is named Indra.

But what I really love about Naruto is the fact that it takes elements from different religions and their myths and incorporates its own variation of them. There were references to Buddhism, Hinduism, Shintoism, and even Christianity.

But they are most often referenced with the Ootsutsuki family and their descendants which is why I would love to see more backstory of Indra and Ashura where it seems that most of those themes lie and originated from.

The conflict between Indra and Ashura was also a focal point for the manga's current plot. It just seems there's a lot of potential to expand that story since it was so important to the manga.

No one complained when Hidan's head was cut off and he was living, breathing and talking. :|

Tsunade always said she cannot die in battle. Well she of course is not an immortal but then no one is really immortal. Some of them are just really really hard to kill. Tsunade's power lies in being able to survive a hell lot and helping others in surviving along with herself.

Either way Kishi's style has always been slightly different and more focused on internal conflicts of characters. Using inner struggle of a small number, rather than spreading it across too many insignificant characters, Kishi goes about his theme of how the actions of the previous generations can shape and mold the personalities of the present characters and their future.

I guess he had covered what he wanted to convey with that theme and prolonging it was becoming tiresome for him. It would be fun if he writes some spin offs like Kakashi gaiden to cover other characters but shippuden arc needed an ending.

Anyway back to the OT- killing of your own creation just like that is not easy either. Especially if you may have some plans later on and want to be able to use them.
We already knew that Hidan was immortal, and none of the people that fought him and Asuma too certainly didn't expect him to survive that. The thing is, Madara KNEW that Tsunade had a healing technique similar to Hashirama yet we are expected that such an experienced person, with literally over one hundred years of experience would just leave such powerful foes without confirming the kill? What kind of bullshit is that? I'm sure even Moegi knows that you have to confirm your kills before you leave a battle sight, how can someone like Madara leave the Five Kage like that? I mean what kind of bullshit was Kishi tryna pull here?

I agree on all points.

I sometimes re-read chapters to find that i've been reading them wrong and skimmed through it just to start discussions.

I never actually got the sense of tone and mood kishi is trying to set unless i've taken a break from the forums.
Yeah the way people discuss it at forums completely ruins it. As staff members we try to contain number of spoilers and premature discussions but it becomes a losing battle when people are not ready to listen and somehow believe they are accomplishing their personal revolution by going against the evil staff members trying to stop them . ... It's their loss but unfortunately they don't see it that way.

I remember till 2011 people posting spoilers randomly got neg repped by oldies from 2008/2009 and many complained against such spoilers. The new forum discussions were visible in top list on manga reader page which were removed by V ultimately due to reader's demand. They brought traffic to forum but people added spoilers to thread titles which ruined it for those who were still hadn't read the chapter.

But slowly the older members gave up and retired and since 2012 it has only gone downwards with less experienced members taking over the forums more actively.

The manga contained the dead bodies too as well as visible gore now and then. Problem is that many people have been paying little attention to the manga panel but rush through it without letting the scene sink in. The discussions over random panels start hours before the actual chapter release and there is hardly any curiosity to check the chapter but a lot of very vocal people rushing though pages in one and half a minute and hurry to post reactionary threads all over the forum ruining it for many others too.

I would suggest to anyone who really liked to read the manga to take a break for some time and read the war arc in volumes and without checking the forum threads in between. While it may still not be the best written war arc out there, it's definitely written much better than many haters claim.
Already beat you to that Ira =D I started collecting the manga at the War arc and it really is better to read a manga in volumes as it keeps the intensity up unlike waiting for an entire week and hearing so much negativity to cloud your thoughts on something. I definitely agree with what you said here.

You can spork everything if you want to. But it's really pointless argument. So he didn't make sure that Tsunade was dead. Was he supposed to know who Orochimaru and Karin were and that they can help Tsunade out? Did he even care whether a weak woman like her ( his words) lived or died? He already declared her healing power being lesser than Hahsirama's BTW.

What do you expect someone with Madara's power level at that point after he leaves an enemy near death? Did you really expect Madara to cut heads of kages and rip their heart out and burn it and then maybe throw the ashes in 11 different rivers or something like that to ensure they are not revived ever again? Is even that a sure shot thing in Narutoverse?

More importantly: Wouldn't making sure that the kages were dead beyond healing mean Madara acknowledged them to be a greater threat to himself than he claimed them to be? Do you really believe he was concerned about them? He seemed to be taking things pretty coolly even when Obito tried to cheat him out of his prized Jubbi.

It's simple. It's plot and the writer wanted to keep those characters in for future use. He wanted to keep those characters around and give Oro to do something more than just revive the edo hokages. It's not like they impacted this story that much but if he doesn't want to lose his creations it's his business. It would be nice if you can read his story rather than trying to force him to write it the way you want. Because what you think doesn't affect what writer wants anyway. Take it or leave it but it's you who will have to deal with it.

This manga was never the sort to kill of bucket loads of main/side characters anyway, so no I wasn't that bothered by it. A large part of the alliance was wiped out, and Neji,Shikaku, Inoichi, Ao etc were all killed, in addition to some of the villains like Obito,Madara etc. Neji and Shikaku had nice farewells too with their comrades/family

Well you are reading a book written in Japan. Are you sure both countries have exactly the same standard about what's acceptable for kids and what's not?

For example, let me point it out: I know "shit" as a swear word in English and in the West. In India due to influence of English speaking media ( movies , books etc) the word has become common among such computer using population or the English medium schools etc.

The nearest equivalent in meaning and use in Hindi for the word shit is "Chhee". People especially the older generation is more likely to give you a disapproval for saying "shit" as they learn it as some serious swear word than "Chhee". No one would even blink if you say "chhee!!!". If some people living in metro give you a second glance for saying Chee it would be only because that Hindi word is being used less and less by the newer gen.

That explanation was meant to point out cultural difference. Same words may look harmless to you but may be seen as offensive in other places. So you have to take such references with a grain of salt.

The ultimate ranking and wording has to be what's seen as acceptable in Japan as the manga is being published there. When published in your country, official publications may modify it according to acceptability in your country.

On the other hand, manga fan communities translating the manga may use words which may or may not be in Japanese version to help convey the meaning as per their personal understanding and views. You cannot argue that Kishi should follow the standards use set by fan communities, can you?
This isn't that relevant to the thread, but this post reminded me how much of a hypocrite my father is. He always swears in Tamil, yet whenever he hears me cuss in English he gets on my case.

LoL but then our parents try to set higher standards for us because they hope we would succeed where they failed and want us to do better than them. :p
