theres a video game, deus ex: human revolution, that talks about a possible future where human organs can be replaced for mechanical organs (better hands, legs, eyes, chips in your brains to help you think, etc...).

it's both exciting and scary, from all the good plastic surgey gives us, it also causes a lot of problems. it's great that people with low self esteem can get this surgeries and feel better easily, but in the future to go through with a plastic surgery might be a job requirement and if you are unwilling you might not be able to get a job.
and even if you get a surgery it will become "old" in a couple of years and you will have to get more to stay competitive. not to mention that because of the high costs it will left the lower income precentage unable to get those and therefore have an even harder time to get a job, which in turn make them poorer and unable to get the surgeries even more and the cycle makes them only more and more poor, and on the other hand the higher income precentage easily get those surgeries and as a result land better jobs that give them more money and the inequality gap will only get wider and wider.
in the game, at one point you enter a brothel and hear the owner forcing the prostitues to get these augmentations because costumers are willing to pay more. this is a specific example of how the future of plastic surgery might look like.
i don't condemn it right away, but i'm just saying that it's an interesting conversation.
