Its basic logic Sasuke said, "I am just getting started" how w would he be able to say that he could go to greater lengths if this was just a sudden power up. Him stating that there is more to come means that there is more that he has in his arsenal. Things that predated him getting the Kyuubi chakra.

Analysis: Sasuke made solid statements, yet after some development he can just... bluff? He didn't even hestitate to try to save a companion, he didn't save Naruto, he didn't save Shikamaru, or anyone but Sakura (his waifu, maybe)... and he claims he wants to become Hokage? Protect the village?

Conclusion: I want to think that he used the Kurama's cloak to do this, since this could give him an 'alibi' of why didn't he act before.
