Ninjutsu is a type of techniques that allows a ninja to use their chakra for several purposes, varying from substitution to weapon use.
The user normally uses hand seals to mold chakra. In Basic Ninjutsu, the user adds shape manipulation to their chakra, that controls the form, movement and power of the technique.

1. Basic ninjutsu only deals with shape manipulation, while elemental nin deals with both shape manipulation and nature transformation.
2. Clones, Substitution, raw chakra jutsus like Rasengan, chakra suppression/absorption/sensing jutsus, weapon techniques in general.
3. Kunais, shurikens, swords, makibishi, among others.

Now as a Genin you should already have experience with using Ninjutsu. These techniques are already part of your arsenal:
While not powerful techniques, some of them can be extremely useful.
Now, some of these techniques are pretty self explanitory. So I'll go over the ones that can be a little more confusing, and then ask you to tell me a strength/weakness of the other ones.
We'll start with Temporary Body Paralysis.
(Kanashibari no Jutsu) - Temporary Body Paralysis Technique
Describe to me in your own words how this technique works.

If the stream of chakra is too weak, the user will lose their footing on the tree and fall off. If it is too strong, the user will be pushed away from the tree, causing the bark of the tree to break around the point of contact and the user to fall. This technique becomes second nature to shinobi with more practice.

To do this, the user has to be emitting a constant stream of chakra from the bottom of the their feet and using the repellent force to walk across the water's surface. This technique is more difficult to master than the Tree Climbing Practice, because the amount of chakra that needs to be emitted changes constantly. This technique becomes second nature to shinobi with more practices.

With the target frozen in place, the ninja can either take the opportunity to attack or to retreat. It can only be used against animal (summons or not) and works by forcefully using your chakra to restrain the summon physically by holding it in place. It can, however, be broken by outside means or brute force, making it less effective against bigger summons like boss summons or similar.
Note: lasts only as long as the user is focusing on the target to sustain it.
