"Nope... your first impression of me is correct."
(I'm guessing that you're thinking that I'm awesome, and you don't like it that someone else is awesome beside you). "Just kidding, you're right. First impressions tend to be wrong."
I know that ninjutsu is the basics of all ninja techniques. It refers to almost every technique a shinobi uses that requires chakra and hand seals. The hand seals are needed sometimes for molding and manipualting the chakra better.
Ninjutsu variates a lot.
Ninjutsu can also be used as a nature element, katon, suiton, fuuton, doton and raiton. The element will be manipulated with ninjutsu to performcan elemental jutsu, but ninjutsu can also be used for things like transformations, clones, rasengan and just raw chakra tecdhniques.
Ninjutsu can be combined with a lot of things, like what I just said with elements, but also with taijutsu (nintaijutsu) and more.
Ninjutsu is very important it is one of the starting points of becoming a shinobi and to get a grasp on elemental jutsus, genjutsu, taijutsu.
But in the RP Ninjutsu is basically anything that requires chakra and is non-elemental
Kakuzu listens intently to his student's monologue, slightly disappointed with his shallow explanation on Ninjutsu.
Far too basic, you missed out on too many key things. I expect your future answers to be far more detailed. Instead of answeing my questions straight away, take some time to think before you speak. No need to rush this process, it will only run smoothly if you take your time. One key thing you failed to mention is that since Ninjutsu is a more primitive version of Elemental Ninjutsu, most techniques in this category are actually weak to all elemental ones. Few exceptions exist such as Rasengan, where the chakra is worked and molded with advanced shape manipulation, putting it on equal terms with elemental variants. Once you've read and understood the following, we will proceed.
Ninjutsu is the usage of chakra to perform various tasks which can't be performed otherwise. Its an extremely broad term and encompasses many things such as: weapon usage, medical uses, transformations and so on. Unlike Genjutsu, its effects manifest in reality and not solely in the illusonary. A notable user of Ninjutsu is the 2nd Tsuchikage due to his arsenal of highly regarded techniques. Through chakra manipulation alone, he could achieve flight through unknown means, turn his body completely invisible and "split" his chakra into two separate bodies. His splitting technique far surpassed conventional clone techniques as both halves of him are considered the "real" version of him, meaning they couldn't be dispersed.
Ninjutsu isn't solely based around chakra usage and performing complex techniques and maneuvers, but is also in reference to the skill set a ninja should possess. The term "Ninjutsu" literally means ninja skills, leading me to believe its actually a more abstract concept to what we first perceive. A ninja should be a keen analyzer of situations, capable of conjuring up plans, tactics and counters, both in the heat of a battle and in preparation for one. They must make proficient use of the various ninja tools at their disposal, using all of the utensils they possess to the fullest. Awareness is another very important skill a ninja should possess. Paying close attention to detail, making logical inferences about your opponent, gradually deciphering your opponent's fighting style, noticing minute disturbances in your surroundings and remaining vigilant at all times is required if a ninja is to survive. Often a lack of awareness leaves you prone to assassinations, being struck by invisible attacks or worse still, making you unable to realize nor release an illusionary technique.
Even with the astounding abilities a ninja can come to acquire, he/she should never overlook or forget these fundamental rules. It could very well result in their downfall.
sorry, I'll try to describe better next time.. I was rushing a bit indeed and I tried to do it without wikia :T_T:
Thanks, yeah I understood it perfectly
Alright, our Ninjutsu training can be broken down into the following three categories:
-Weapons Usage
-Logistics of a Battle
-Learning the Techniques
The techniques will be learnt in the following groups:
-Ninja tools, scrolls and weapons usage
-Stealth and Detection (My personal favourite)
-Transformations and clones
-Miscellaneous (All other techniques grouped together)
Note about my training: Since I make you specialize in the different categories one at a time, you'll be learning techniques with different ranks in a random order. That being said, you cannot make any Ninjutsu custom techniques until you complete all of the Ninjutsu techniques.
Right now, we'll begin on weapons usage in a battle. Tell me about all of the ninja tools you know of, describe them thoroughly and how they can be used in battle.
okay, actually that is very cool, because it'll really help me specializing in them, and become stronger, and I don't really care about the custom techniques anyway, so this is pretty awesome, yeah let's get it started.
weapons, the most famous ninja tools are those in the ninja pouch
kunai: can be used as a dagger, to stab something and cut stuff but also as a throwing knife. it has a ring beneath, which could be handy for attaching it to something, like an exposive tags. Minata had special kunais with 3 tips and he marked them to use them for FTG.
senbon: these are small needles that can be thrown at the opponent and pierce them with it.
(windmill) Shuriken: this is just a ninja star, you can throw it and cut someone with it, they are actually pretty dangerous. you also have those big shurikens, windmill shurikens, they can be thrown too, and yeah, kill someone with ease.
Explosive tags: Notes with kanjis written on them, they explode on the user's will with performing a single seal, or when they ignite. Most of the times they're attached to kunais so they could be thrown.
Wire: can be used to bind someone or to attach it to a kunai, a shuriken or a senbon to pull it back.
flash and smoke bombs: flashbombs are meant to blind the user so you could either escape or perform a sneak attack. And smoke bombs create a smoke cloud so the user won't be able to see you, so you could escape in some kind of way, or do something else.
scrolls: These contain kanjis on it, maybe for summoning, or even for sealing the techniques.
sword: well, you can cut and slice people. It's great for attacking, and you could specialize in it's techniques and be skilled in the sword arts (kenjutsu). You have many types of swords, like kusagani, those of the 7 ninja swordsman of the mist, sealing swords like totsuka.
Fan: These are used for wind techniques. Like backing someone off with it, or blow someone away, attack them with wind slices.
Chakra blade: You hold these with your hands and channel your chakra into it, and you could bash someone pretty hard with it and cut very very deep.
shield: Can be used to protect yourself, but actually also to bash someone with it.
Ame umbrella: an umbrella, used by amegakure ninjas, and those umbrellas can fire senbons at the opponent.
Then you'll also have special weapons used by medical ninjas like, scalpels which are used to cut someone, and poison ofcourse! Poison could also be used as a great weapon and kill tons of ppl with it.
Puppets: a puppet is also a weapon and you could use it to fight someone with it.
You also have protective tools, like a headband or a flak jacket.
There are much more tools and weapons, but they're almost all derived from this.
Kunai: The kunai is probably the most common weapon in the Narutoverse . It can be wielded by anyone and doesn't require much skill to use because of its simplicity. It is essentially a black dagger with a ring on the end and is mainly used for attacking bare flesh because of its lack of penetrative power. Many things can be attached to the ring of a kunai to extend its uses such as explosive tags, wire and other objects. They can also be enhanced by channeling chakra and elements through the kunai to improve their properties; make it longer, sharper.
Shuriken: Shurikens are sharp metal stars and are the most ranged weapon in the series. They aren't the most potent weapon because of their size and the fact that they can be deflected/avoided easily but when used right they can be deadly. The shurikens have a whole in the center to allow a person to handle several of them without cutting themselves and they can be attached together by wire. Shurikens can also be enhanced with chakra to improve their properties.
Senbon: Senbons are thin metal needles and are mainly used by medical ninja or assassins. They are not very deadly however unless the user knows certain pressure points in the body and without that knowledge even on bare skin they wouldn't seriously harm a skilled ninja unless it got them in the eye. Poison can be applied to the senbon to increase their potency.
Wire: Ninja wire is very thin making it hard to spot which is why it is very useful in setting traps. It is not like normal wire as it is extremely durable as Sasuke was able to use them to swing across trees in the Forest of Death. They can also be used to attack multiple different weapons together such as shuriken to use as chain attacks and to ensnare the opponent.
Scrolls: Many ninjas can carry scrolls with them as it allows them to seal many weapons and items within them which would slow them down if they carried normally. They allow a ninja to retain their mobility whilst keeping that handy item ready for when its needed the most. They are also used in summoning jutsus and in some cases also have techniques stored inside them.
Explosive tags: Explosive tags are special pieces of paper that are infused with chakra to explode after a set period of time. These tags are very common but are the only incendiary weapons in the Narutoverse and they give add different aspect of fighting into a ninjas arsenal as they can stick a tag on the opponents body or use them in conjunction with other weapons to add the element of surprise to a ninjas attacks.
Sword: A sword is a basic offensive weapon but it can be used in many different ways and styles with the mastery of the kenjutsu art. Chakra can be channeled through this weapon to incredibly increase its penetrative power. There are dozens of custom blades in the ninja world and even entire groups dedicated to skilled swordsmen. A lot of swords also have a special ability such as the Sword of Kusanagi's power to extend and the Totsuka blades power to seal.
Those are the main weapons but there are many other weapons in the narutoverse such as staffs, shields, chakra bombs, smoke bombs, makibishi, tanto, spear, whip, nunchaku and dozens more. As well as many specialized weapons such as puppets, fans, flute, umbrella etc.
Excellent display from the both of you. Yamato, your vast knoweledge of the ninja tools which exist was fairly impressive. Darui, the detail you put into each of your descriptions was equally as reputable. Make sure all of your replies are of that caliber.
Angle and direction of Ninja tools
These are the realistic aspects of the RP. We will be covering one at a time starting with Angle. These are some of the things you need to keep in mind when fighting in a battle.
Angle is a very important part when battling and if used right it can give you the upper hand over your opponent. It's very important to understand the angles in a battle. This is mainly used with ninja tools (shuriken, kunai and other projectiles) but you can also use this with certain techniques that are launched at your opponent. Just by stating the angle you can confuse your opponent.
For example:Ninja 1 and Ninja 2 are fighting. N1 throws 2 kunai at N2, one at the angle of 25 and the other on 75. The lower the angle, the faster the projectile. Most new people would say:"I intercept the kunai with one of my own, blocking them both." If you use angles, this is where you can score.
Here is a pic for reference:
You must be registered for see images
If N1 threw the kunai at an angle of 25 first your opponent would probably be defending from that one first thus he would fail to notice the other one. If he blocks the first one then the second one would hit him unless he kept his focus. Thus with one blow you can cause fatal injuries. This tactic more or less applies to all thrown weapons/projectiles.(Credits to Cobalt)
Another neat trick I picked up is the efficient use of a flash bomb. By hiding a flash bomb in your sleeve/hand and dropping it onto the ground behind your position, you'll slyly blind your opponent without blinding yourself giving you the upper hand. Now, this is a nice tactic, however spamming it or over-using it will make you look unskillful and reliant on the upper hand it gives you. Use it sparsely.
Content that his students are understanding everything that has been said, Kakuzu decides to continue
Now, I want you to state and describe all of the different types of terrains that could be fought in, be as creative as you'd like. Along with this, I want you to list the different types of weather conditions and their significance to you in battle.
night
-does it rain, or snow or not
-does the moon shine or not
-clouds
-whether it is very hot or cold
-is it too dark to see
day
-does the sun shine bright
-does it rain or snow or nothing
-are there clouds
-is there mist
-is it hot or cold
Terrains
Is there a water source or not
flat ground
in the mountains or cliffs
is there a forest
maybe there are only rocks, like a canyon
desert, only sand
are there earth sources
are you perhaps inside, if so what is the floor made of
maybe inside a large pit
in the middle of the ocean, where there's only water
it could even be in the air, you could perhaps be fighting while you're falling from the sky
Is the range limited or not?
If there are trees how tall are they
maybe it's just a grassy field
there are many terrains, and you could derive the list I mentioned above from the terrains, and kinda mix it
here are a few examples:
Terrain: A grassy field with a river flowing to your left, my right. It's night and the moon is shining.
or, terrain: We're fighting in the grand canyons
-on the top of the mount everest,
-in a very large not so dense forest, with trees of appr. 15 meters tall
most of the time sit's the best to use pictures, because that makes things more clear but
you could also just name places from animes, just like this..
terrain: valley of the end, where sasuke fought naruto
or where the alliance is fighting juubito right now
in the chuunin exams arena
Terrains
Plain field
Rocky terrian- Easier to use earthen jutsus
Water source- Allows you to use more suiton jutsus as a lot of them require water sources
Flat and dry- Basically another plain setup
Desert- Sand jutsus would be great in this landscape.
Ocean- Water jutsus would be recommended in this landscape and with all the water around even basic suiton attacks can be a whole lot larger.
Forest- Trees for cover also could be used against the opponent by making them fall on them.
Jungle- A lot more humid and dense than a forest.
Swamp- Boggy so movement wouldn't be ideal in this landscape.
Buildings- Either inside one or they are around the battlefield
Enclosed spaces - Small places so the fighting would mainly be hand-to-hand or short range jutsus.
High pillars- Knocking the opponent off the pillar would become another aim of the battle
Impending disaster- A hurricane or something could be in the background and you could only get a certain number of turns to end the fight.
Weather
Sunny, bright.
Foggy- Restricted vision.
Raining- Could disguise rain jutsus and even some storm cj. Potential water source.
Cloudy
Snowing
Temperature
Thunderclouds- Kirin. U_U
Windy- Wind has to be taken into consideration when throwing projectiles.
Night- Harder to see.
When in a battle the terrain is important as it gives you a hint on what jutsu your opponent might use. If your lazy or you like a certain place in the naruto cannon you can just say the battle happens in one of those iconic places; i.e forest of death, killer b vs sasuke. Pictures would also be a good idea if possible as they would eliminate any questions your opponent might have about the terrain.
You're probably wondering why I asked you to do that. Here's why. In certain environments, shinobi exist who can launch attacks difficult to perceive. During rainy conditions, a rain user can sharpen a single or multiple droplets of rain into needle-like blades, granting them the ability to kill you without you even realizing it. The same applies to snowy conditions, hail and etc. Sand users are particularly dangerous in deserts. There are even some ninja which can manipulate the temperature of the battlefield itself e.g. Custom Elements: Arid and Temperature. If you're fighting in a extremity climate (very hot or very cold), you'd be at a serious disadvantage.
Awareness is key. No matter how strong any opponent is, if he or she has no knowledge of your next attack, they're probably done for. Knowledge is power. Being wary at all times and having the necessary skills to perceive all types of offensives are essential to your survival. I've broken down the three main causes of death for shinobi due to a lack of awareness in battle.
Speed enhancements
These can come in many forms such as: Leg Weights, Bijuu chakra cloaks, Elemental armours, Swift Release and the Eight Inner Gates. However, many people can come to access quick usage speed boosts (which aren't continuous) which allow the user to move from one location to another with near untracakble speeds.
The best way to counter these is to first recognize a speed enhancement has been used e.g Leg Weights dropping, a cloak manifesting and etc. After that happens, either manipulate the terrain to your favour (e.g. create a swamp) or construct a defensive shield/armour to protect yourself.
Attacks invisible to the naked eye
Observe the distortions in the air, the sounds they create and so on. However, most of the time this will not help.
Genjutsu/Illusionary techniques
The first step in realizing a genjutsu is observing for anything overly-obvious or something which would naturally probe your character's suspicion. In battle, I want you to observe even the smallest of disturbances in your surroundings and the slightest inconsistencies. I want you to notice, if a tree begins coiling around you, does it produce growing sounds as it emerges ? If a fireball is shot towards you, does the heat of the technique resonate from it and make you feel like the temperature is rising ? If you see an illusionary clone walking towards you, does it bend the grass when it walks ? If you get burnt by something, does the wound sizzle as the burn is inflicted ? Does the water beneath your feet ripple when you walk, or make any splashing sounds ?
Pay very close attention to the senses a technique affects, its fundamental to breaking a genjutsu. If a technique doesn't specify the senses it affects, make sure you don't assume anything. Find other ways of seeing through the technique. Does the illusion respect the laws of reality ? Does the illusion distort happen to abruptly and distorts the natural occurrence of events ? I can't teach you how to realize every genjutsu, I can only teach you the concept of doing so. The rest is up to how much you take away from this training. One thing to bare in mind is, when you're trying to realize genjutsu, don't come up with extremely complicated thought processes or anything which wouldn't be realistic in the heat of a battle. I don't want you to "god-mod" or try to use knowledge your character doesn't have to break Genjutsus. You must be realistic and legitimate in the way you break genjutsus.
All of this is said from my perspective. My bios do not possess any sensory capabilities or a Doijutsu. If you wield sensing or a Doijutsu, you'll have a much greater sense of awareness compared to normal shinobi. You're capable of tracking faster speeds, "knowing" about invisible attacks and detecting foreign chakra in your bodies (Genjutsu). If this sort of thing intrigues you, you might like to look into the Byakugan.
Once you've read and understood the above, post here and we'll move onto the techniques.
Important Note: You can use any and all jutsus you learn in battle, however until this training is complete you cannot submit or learn any Ninjutsu customs.
With that, we'll move onto my favourite type of Ninjutsu techniques. Stealth and detection is the art of concealing your whereabouts whilst always knowing the opponent's. It gives you a considerable upper hand since you can still launch attacks, while they squander their time trying to locate you. A true master of stealth can take down opponents much stronger than himself with basic means, whilst a master of detection will never allow himself to be caught off guard or assassinated.
For this training, you will be filling out the below template. Just to clarify, you will still perform the techniques as well as filling out the template. Don't feel too concerned with making every template submission extremely detailed, some jutsus are more straight forward than others. However, for more unique and complex techniques, I expect a substantial level of detail. Also, don't be hesitant to ask questions about techniques. I remember when I was training, I'd sometimes avoid asking questions just so I could learn more techniques with my teacher's next post. I will always answer your questions and provide new techniques to learn, so if anything I encourage asking about things you want to know more about.

(Utsusemi no Jutsu) - Empty Cicada Shell Technique
Rank: D
Type:Supplementary
Range:Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 10
Damage Points:N/A
Description: Forming the needed hand seal Ram, a shinobi can project his voice to a different area to hide their location and the number of allies at their side. It is an excellent complement to stealth tactics.
Go hide in a bush somewhere, unknown to both me and my clone. When you get to your hiding place, perform the ram handseal before utilizing your chakra to project your voice all over the battlefield. This will give your opponent the idea that you're in multiple locations at once, effectively concealing your true location.
(Chakra Yokuatsu no Jutsu) - Chakra Suppression Technique
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: short
Chakra cost: 15 (-10 per turn to keep active)
Damage points: N/A
Description: This ability allows the user to suppress their chakra to the point that it is completely undetectable. This makes it impossible for chakra sensory-type ninja to track them via their chakra signal. However there is some downside to the technique, whilst suppressing their chakra they cannot use any of the ninja skills.
Note: Cannot prevent doujutsu users from detecting them.
Next, my clone is going to attempt to track you via your chakra signature. Utilize your chakra to counteract this, by suppressing your chakra, making it impossible for chakra sensory-type ninja to detect your presence. However, whilst its active you'll be unable to use techniques since your efforts are concentrated on concealing your location. Once my clone realizes its futile to detect your location through chakra sensing, he'll cease the technique and continue his search without. I'll tell you when he does so. When I give you the signal, cancel your chakra suppression technique.
Rank: C
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short - Long
Chakra cost: 15
Damage points: N/A
Description: This technique enables the user to project an image of themselves in the sky in order to send a message. This technique can work as a good diversionary technique.
Now, your going to add to his confusion a little more. This technique can be seen as a counterpart to the Empty Shell technique since, instead of confusing the opponent's sense of hearing it deals with their sense of sight. Use your chakra to project an image of yourself in the sky and begin speaking. Divert my clone's attention with this spectacular display.
(Oboro Bunshin no Jutsu) – Haze Clone Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Long
Chakra cost: 10
Damage N/A
Description: Haze clone technique is like the regular clone technique in creating intangible clones, although these clones will let the enemy go through them. The Sharingan can see through the illusions. However these clones cannot cause any damage as they are illusions only.
While he's distracted, swiftly cancel the Tyrant's technique and create a illusionary clone in a distant hiding place, different from the one you're in. Ideally, the location opposite your's so my clone turns away from your location. Make the clone charge at him, giving you a great opportunity to emerge from your hiding place. Whenever he attacks the clone with a technique or Taijutsu/Kenjutsu, his attacks will phase through them and he'll realize its a illusionary clone. Who knows, he might even think its a Genjutsu.
Key Points: The clone cannot use any techniques. Its merely a diversionary tool
(Muon Satsujin Jutsu) - Silent Homicide Technique
Rank: D
Type:Attack
Range:Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points:20
Description: Muon Satsujin Jutsu, the ability to commit a silent homicide, is a technique to dispatch your foe with no warning. Your quick speed and skills will instantly kill them before they can provide a defense.
Tactic:Best used with Hidden Mist jutsu.
Before he attacks your clone, stealthily emerge from your location and use your chakra to silence your movements and footsteps. Have a kunai ready and sneak up from behind my clone before attacking him in a swift manner, dealing a deep slash to the back of his neck, inflicting a fatal blow. Being a low-level technique, this should be easier to perform compared to the rest, so I expect a flawless assassination from you.
Combinations you could make with this jutsu:
well no specific combos, except sneak attacks. You could hide and project your voice somewhere else and sneak behind your enemy and attack him! Ways to Counter:
actually seeing the opponent... (and ppl will always "godmod" with techniques like these) Uses of this technique (Battle orientated and non-battle orientated):
hiding yourself, preparing for a sneak attack Rate the technique out of ten:
3, it's good for sneak attacks, but I don't really like techniques like these Questions about the technique (Optional):
N/A Description of me performing the technique:
I hid in the bushes and gathered my chakra and focussed very good on it. I performed the Ram handseal and channeled it into my voicebox. I concentrated and manipulated the chakra there. I started to talk and released the chakra at the same time and manipulated it at multiples places around 10 meters far away. I projected my voice there while I was hiding in the bushes
Combinations you could make with this jutsu:
no real combination, well except a diversionary combo, but you can't attack while doing this Ways to Counter:
doujutsu, actually seeing the opponent Uses of this technique (Battle orientated and non-battle orientated):
If you want to hide from a sensory type ninja, or if you want to sneak on him without him noticing it. Rate the technique out of ten:
3, I don't think I'll use this much, but it's good for hiding your presence Questions about the technique (Optional):
-Can I move/walk while suppressing my chakra? Can I throw a kunai or something with this?
-How can I know whether the opponent is about to "sense me" Description of me performing the technique:I was still hiding in the bushes, and your clone was about to track my chakra signature. You gave me a signalI was about to counteract it. I focussed very good and concentrated on my chakra. I started to manipulate my chakra flow and was suppressing it. Now it was impossible for your clone to detects my presence. You're clone ceased the technique. You gave me a signal, and I cancelled the chakra supressing technique.
Combinations you could make with this jutsu:
a diversionary combo Ways to Counter:
chakra sensing, actually seeing the user xD Uses of this technique (Battle orientated and non-battle orientated):
to send a message to someone, or to distract him Rate the technique out of ten:
5, this is a bit more useful for the NW Questions about the technique (Optional):
N/A Description of me performing the technique: I gathered my chakra and focussed on it. I released it and manipulated it on a long range distance from me, in the sky and I projected an image of myself, and it started to talk.. about life.. and stuff >_> Your clone was distracted by the projection.
Combinations you could make with this jutsu:
also for diversionary. He'll get distracted by the clone, and I could perform an attack meanwhile Ways to Counter:
sharingan, noticing that when you throw a kunai or something at him it phases through him Uses of this technique (Battle orientated and non-battle orientated):
this is just to distract the opponent, or to hide yourself Rate the technique out of ten:
5, because me is grumpy Questions about the technique (Optional):
is it an illusion or not? Does it bend the grass when it walks or not? why is it in nin-list and not in gen-list if so? Description of me performing the technique:
The clone was still distracted by the projection. I cancelled the projection and gathered my chakra and focussed on it. I released the chakra and manipulated it. I created an illusionary clone and he started to charge at your clone from the opposite direction I was hiding, which gave me a perfect opportunity to emerge from my hiding place. The illusionary clone was about to punch the your clone, and your clone was ready to counter it, but the illusionary clone phased right through your clone. He realized it was clone
Combinations you could make with this jutsu:
sneak attacks with hidden mist jutsu Ways to Counter:
byakugan, actually seeing the opponent xD Uses of this technique (Battle orientated and non-battle orientated):
basically to sneak up from behind without the opponent noticing it Rate the technique out of ten:
6.3 Questions about the technique (Optional):
N/A Description of me performing the technique:
When the illusionary clone started to charge at your clone, it gave me the perfect chance to emerge from my hiding place and sneak up behind your clone. But he could maybe hear me, my footsteps, me breathing, grabbing my kunai. I gathered my chakra and manipulated the chakra flow in such a way that it was silencing my movements. after the illusionary clone phased right through him I had a kunai ready. I sneaked up from behind and attacked your clone in a swift manner, dealing a deep slash to the back of the neck. Because of the damage he received, he dispersed.
