Ninjutsu weaknesses:ransengan and TBB

Remember what Itachi said? Every jutsu has a weakness. I've decided to start a series where I analyze what we've seen of ninjutsu with no stated weaknesses and theorize what their weaknesses are. I'm covering ransengan and TBB together since they're similar.


Ransengan variants and TBB are some extremely powerful jutsus. However, we've seen that they're not unbeatable. We've seen cases where the've seemed to be foderized. I'll explain why that is. Ransengans and TBB seem to have 2 attacks. The impact of hitting and grinding into someone, and then there's an explosion that follows after. Here's the scan of the most epic ransengan of all proving it.

The anime put more detail on Madara overcoming massive ransengan. He blocked it it with ribcage, then he created a susanoo arm that punched it away. It didn't explode since we say the ransengan still active right after being punched away.


Here's my take of this. If there's an attack that has more force than the ransengan/TBB's initial impact, then it can deflect the ransegan/TBB before it can explode. This enables the person defending against it to escape the full force of the explosion that follows.

There's not much I can add. What you've said makes sense, how susanoo was able to deflect a pre exploded rasengan and tbb.

There are 2 type of rasengans.

A rasengan filled with Supporting Character chakra ( Minato/J-man) & A rasengan filled with Main Character Chakra ( Naruto)

Except Izanami doesn't effect people who are true to themselves such as Naruto


OT: I agree. The TBB have three weaknesses.

1. Being overmatched by force.

2. Being absorbed with jutsu.

3. Disrupting the rotation or balance of chakra (the Bijuudama is formed with rotation...breaking this rotation can disrupt the jutsu's formation). Also, the Bijuudams is a mix of the dark and regular chakra...so rebalancing by adding chakra could prematurely detonate it.

TBB's weakness is that it takes a while to get it ready. Rasengan's is that It really doesn't do much good against any sort of defense.

True, but I'm simply referring to the standard TBB. The weakness of the beam is probably that it's easier to evade than the explosion of a standard TBB.

Amaterasu and izanami are next.

I agree the beam is easier to avoid but not the explosion.
