Deactivating his invisibility as his 2nd student arrives late, Kakuzu can be seen with his eyes closed and in a meditative position.

Not a good first impression. Then again, first impressions tend to be wrong. Now, both of you, tell me everything you know about Ninjutsu.

Ninjutsu is basically a term used to describe a set of skills and abilities used to control ones life force "chakra" and using it as raw energy or manipulating it for use as a weapon which have real effects on surrounding objects. Ninjutsu includes techniques like walking on water, walking vertically up a tree and making shadow clones etc.Rasengan is also a part of ninjutsu as it includes shape manipulation and nature transformation, which are an important part of ninjutsu :

  • Shape manipulation itself controls the form of chakra, its movement and strength. usually not involving the manipulation of the environment, or rather the elements of it.
  • Chakra Nature Manipulation on the other hand is changing the properties of ones chakra, allowing him to control elements, the simplest example would be heating chakra and manipulating fire.
Shape transformation deals with controlling the form, movement, and potency of chakra. Nature transformation usually deals with changing the physical properties of chakra into an element.

Chakra is the life forces the dwells withing all living creatures. It has two aspects of it, the physical energy generated by ones body, existing in each cell from burning carbohydrates and breathing, and the spiritual aspect of of will power, based on the individuals persistence and perseverance, his determination.

There are basic ninjutsu techniques (basic five) and advanced ones (combination of two or three elements).Healing techniques are also a part of ninjutsu.Ninjutsu is important in battle because it can tilt the battle in favor of the user.

*Ulquiorra was rarely taken off guard when push came to shove, even during moments of rest and comfort he would show no signs of being startled. Seeing the masked man appear out of nowhere, Ulquiorra's eyes widened suddenly; How could this man be so subtle? No excessive noise, still, nearly tranquil-like, poised, and confident: The indicators for a true master of his craft. The Espada wondered whether he'd be able to mirror the man's abilities after this training session, and as the cool breeze rolled across the training field the man known as Kakuzu, fabled bounty hunter spoke sternly;

Not a good first impression. Then again, first impressions tend to be wrong. Now, both of you, tell me everything you know about Ninjutsu.

He had obviously referred to Ulquiorra in the beginning, but this did not bother him. He knew that lasting impressions on someone were truly made over a period of time. After his partner had spoken, Ulquiorra spoke in a calm, clear tone of voice:

"Ninjutsu is essentially the usage of techniques that involve performing physical impossibilities in our world. It requires knowledge of both nature and shape manipulation of chakra and in many cases hand seals are required to perform such techniques. Despite usage of certain weapons being tied to ninjutsu the core common type of ninjutsu revolves around the usage of the basic elements fire, wind, water, earth and lightning. Additionally ninjutsu may also be combined with taijutsu techniques in order to create a nintaijutsu way of fighting."

His partner had obviously one-uped him this time with common knowledge, but the sun had only begun to rise, there would be plenty of time for showing off later as the training progressed, surely.*

Kakuzu slightly tilts his head to the right, quite intrigued that both of his students know a considerable amount already.

Quite impressive. You already know a substantial amount about Ninjutsu, so let me further fortify your knowledge with my explanation of Ninjutsu and everything it entails. However, one thing you both failed to mention is that since Ninjutsu is a more primitive version of Elemental Ninjutsu, most techniques in this category are actually weak to all elemental ones. Few exceptions exist such as Rasengan, where the chakra is worked and molded with advanced shape manipulation, putting it on equal terms with elemental variants. Once you've read and understood the following, we will proceed.

Ninjutsu is the usage of chakra to perform various tasks which can't be performed otherwise. Its an extremely broad term and encompasses many things such as: weapon usage, medical uses, transformations and so on. Unlike Genjutsu, its effects manifest in reality and not solely in the illusonary. A notable user of Ninjutsu is the 2nd Tsuchikage due to his arsenal of highly regarded techniques. Through chakra manipulation alone, he could achieve flight through unknown means, turn his body completely invisible and "split" his chakra into two separate bodies. His splitting technique far surpassed conventional clone techniques as both halves of him are considered the "real" version of him, meaning they couldn't be dispersed.

Ninjutsu isn't solely based around chakra usage and performing complex techniques and maneuvers, but is also in reference to the skill set a ninja should possess. The term "Ninjutsu" literally means ninja skills, leading me to believe its actually a more abstract concept to what we first perceive. A ninja should be a keen analyzer of situations, capable of conjuring up plans, tactics and counters, both in the heat of a battle and in preparation for one. They must make proficient use of the various ninja tools at their disposal, using all of the utensils they possess to the fullest. Awareness is another very important skill a ninja should possess. Paying close attention to detail, making logical inferences about your opponent, gradually deciphering your opponent's fighting style, noticing minute disturbances in your surroundings and remaining vigilant at all times is required if a ninja is to survive. Often a lack of awareness leaves you prone to assassinations, being struck by invisible attacks or worse still, making you unable to realize nor release an illusionary technique.

Even with the astounding abilities a ninja can come to acquire, he/she should never overlook or forget these fundamental rules. It could very well result in their downfall.

-Shia sits on top on a huge tree branch that's been next to him-

"hm, I see. There are still a lot of things I can learn from your Sensei.
Well, I'm glad I'll be able to learn from you!"

-Shia, understanding what his Sensei had explained to him about what Ninjutsu really is, stood up and looked at his fellow student Mudo, wondering if he had understood it too.-

Alright, our Ninjutsu training can be broken down into the following three categories:
-Weapons Usage
-Logistics of a Battle
-Learning the Techniques

The techniques will be learnt in the following groups:
-Ninja tools, scrolls and weapons usage
-Stealth and Detection (My personal favourite)
-Transformations and clones
-Miscellaneous (All other techniques grouped together)

Note about my training: Since I make you specialize in the different categories one at a time, you'll be learning techniques with different ranks in a random order. That being said, you cannot make any Ninjutsu custom techniques until you complete all of the Ninjutsu techniques.

Right now, we'll begin on weapons usage in a battle. Tell me about all of the ninja tools you know of, describe them thoroughly and how they can be used in battle.

"Let me think about,hm"
"I do remember some, but I'll have to research a bit more about them....

-Takes scroll out of bag-
"Hm, I think I got it;

- Kunai
- Shuriken
- Windmill shuriken
- Senbon
- Wire
- Flashbomb
- Smokebomb
- Exploding tag

Kunai:
The most basic and most often used ninja tool. It can be used to throw, stab or cut, and can be used to attach other tools to it like exploding tags or wires. People usually use it as a thrown weapon with an exploding tag on it. This way they can avoid close combat fights and attack the opponent with great threat and even deal good damage. It's also used with elemental/non elemental ninjutsu as a base for the technique like Danzo's wind sword. However kunais are small and generally used with other tools or techniques, they can still be used on their own as it was shown in the fight with Kakashi and Zabuza. A good enough user can stop extremely big and heavy close combat weapons with a single kunai, or deflect thrown projectiles with it.

Shuriken:
Another pretty basic tool, but less used than kunais. It can only serve as a thrown weapon, but still as lethal as a kunai. They can be used with other tools and elemental/non elemental techniques. They are usually used with wires to bind the opponent and prevent him/her from moving. There are some elemental techniques that increases the destructive power of it and allows the user to redirect the weapon in mid air, greatly increasing the accuracy and attack targets behind obstacles.

Windmill Shuriken:
Another thrown weapon, but rarely used in battles. They are extremely big and hard to attack with them. A slow and not too accurate weapon that can be spotted and countered easily. However thanks to it's size and weight, it possesses great destructive power and if hits, deals serious damage by making deep cuts, breaking bones and damaging inner organs.

Senbon:
Another thrown weapon which requires great accuracy or have to be used in great numbers. A senbon is a long and thin projectile weapon which deals small damage, but if used correctly and aimed at vital spots, it can finish off any opponent. Senbons are usually used as hidden weapons and shot from them in great numbers or great accuracy. One example is Amegakure's umbrella what shoots out countless senbons at once. Another example is the puppet master's puppets which shoot them from hidden spots with great accuracy. Senbons are also poisoned so even if it can't hit a lethal spot, it still finishes off the opponent. Advantage of this is that, the opponent won't pay attention of small injuries like a senbon's stab.

Wire:
Counted as a basic tool, but can't be used on it's own. Mostly used with kunais and shurikens to restrict the opponent, or like it was shown in the Shikamaru vs Hidan fight, it can be used for traps. Putting several exploding tags on it can make it extremely dangerous, but unfortunately hard to execute and never hits. Elemental chakra can be channeled through it to execute special techniques.

Flashbomb:
A very good ninja tool what luckily is rarely used. Once it explodes it blinds the target temporarily, giving great advantage to the user. If used incorrectly, it can be easily countered/avoided, but a good enough user uses it in a way that it becomes totally unexpected and surely "hits".

Smokebomb:
Another good bomb, but if possible even less used than flashbombs. When it explodes it creates a thick smoke in the targeted area, blocking all sights and concealing movements/attacks.

Exploding tag:
The most common bomb type tool. It can be used with kunais, on traps or on its own. Depending on the situation and number, it can serve as a diversion or killing move. Listing the way of usage is just a waste of time, as it only depends on the user's skills.

- Hoping I didn't forget any, I look at Mudo who's fallen asleep it seems-

*Beginning to doze off slightly from reality, after noting that his partner had finished speaking Ulquiorra quickly collected his thoughts and began to speak;

"In addition to the separate applications that each tool is used for it becomes the shinobi's greatest asset to utilize the tools together. For example, when a thrown projectile and a tag of explosion are used in conjunction the user is able to zone their opponent into a specific area of the battlefield in order to follow up with another attack perhaps, usually unbeknownst to the enemy if the user is tactical enough. Ninja tools are often used less within battles, elemental ninjutsu being used most frequently, however, I believe that ninja tools offer the user a more versatile and creative way of battling compared to elemental ninjutsu. It goes without saying that most tools are typically used for supplementary reason rather than offensive. When an individual launches several shuriken directly towards their opponent, he or she isn't doing so with the expectation that they're actually going to hit their target, no, he or she is doing so to observe the target and see how they will react; Will they draw a kunai and counter the projectiles, or will they simply use an elemental technique to completely overpower the shuriken and send something back at the person? Strategy is the name of game when two equal forces oppose each other, and using ninja tools in battle smartly can vary well decide which force prevails."*

Excellent display from the both of you. Make sure all of your replies are of that caliber.

Angle and direction of Ninja tools
These are the realistic aspects of the RP. We will be covering one at a time starting with Angle. These are some of the things you need to keep in mind when fighting in a battle.

Angle is a very important part when battling and if used right it can give you the upper hand over your opponent. It's very important to understand the angles in a battle. This is mainly used with ninja tools (shuriken, kunai and other projectiles) but you can also use this with certain techniques that are launched at your opponent. Just by stating the angle you can confuse your opponent.

For example:Ninja 1 and Ninja 2 are fighting. N1 throws 2 kunai at N2, one at the angle of 25 and the other on 75. The lower the angle, the faster the projectile. Most new people would say:"I intercept the kunai with one of my own, blocking them both." If you use angles, this is where you can score.

Here is a pic for reference:
You must be registered for see images

If N1 threw the kunai at an angle of 25 first your opponent would probably be defending from that one first thus he would fail to notice the other one. If he blocks the first one then the second one would hit him unless he kept his focus. Thus with one blow you can cause fatal injuries. (Credits to Cobalt)

Another neat trick I picked up is the efficient use of a flash bomb. By hiding a flash bomb in your sleeve/hand and dropping it onto the ground behind your position, you'll slyly blind your opponent without blinding yourself giving you the upper hand. Now, this is a nice tactic, however spamming it or over-using it will make you look unskillful and reliant on the upper hand it gives you. Use it sparsely.

-Shia was amazed by the knowledge his Sensei has -
"I see, now this is what I call usefull information for my future battles!"

"But I do have a question!"
Is it allowed to use the example you used as a combo, what I mean by this is: throw the first Kunai at an angle of 25 and the second one at 75, but because you know your opponent is skilled and you know he'll evade/counter them both you also release the smoke bomb behind your position. So that your opponent loses total eyesight of you so that you can attack him from an other angle while he's evading/countering?

Also, how many Kunais/smoke bombs are you allowed to carry in a battle and how many may you use/turn. If there are any limitations atleast.

"I understood the rest of your explanation Sensei!"

Kakuzu turns to his student known as Yu whilst listening attentively to what he had to say. Despite not showing a shred of emotion or surprise, he was impressed to say the least. This duo were taking to Ninjutsu much more naturally compared to his other students, both past and current.

Yes, however using a smoke bomb is ill-advised. While your opponent can't see you, you can't see him. He could go underground and thwart all of your plans with a low ranking jutsu.

Now, I want the both of you to state and describe all of the different types of terrains that could be fought in, be as creative as you'd like. Along with this, I want you to list the different types of weather conditions and their significance to you in battle.

"I'll have to think about this, it's quite the task, hmm"

Terrains

  • Plain field
  • Rocky terrian- For the use of earth techniques
  • Water source- A lot of water techniques require a watersource
  • Flat and dry- Can also be important
  • Desert- Can be of help for performing certain techniques
  • Ocean- Water techniques can be used on a bigger scale
  • Forest- Trees can be used for cover or if you know wood release they can be of great help
  • Jungle- A lot more humid and dense than a forest.
  • Swamp- Boggy so movement wouldn't be ideal in this landscape.
  • Buildings- Can be used for cover
  • Enclosed spaces - Good for Taijutsu/Kenjutsu fights
  • High pillars- Knocking the opponent off the pillar would become another aim of the battle
Weather

  • Sunny: bright
  • Foggy: Restricted vision.
  • Raining: Could disguise rain jutsus and even some storm cj. Potential water source
  • Cloudy: You can use certain technique to make a storm out of them
  • Snowing: Good for certain Ice Release techniques
  • Temperature: Good for certain Katon-techniques
  • Thunderclouds: Can be used to perform Kirin
  • Windy: Certain wind techniques gain speed/strenght
  • Night: It's harder to see at night

"That's what I know about it, Sensei!"

*"The most common type of terrains are quite basic, such as grassy plains, clearings with vegetation surrounding the area and rock-filled environments. Now, it is important to keep in mind where one is battling for several reasons, one must ask themselves the following questions; Is there a water source? Are there any factors that can impede my sight on my opponent such as fog or mist? Are we standing on an ocean, and if so are there any pieces of land that I may use to my advantage in the future? Terrain awareness is a crucial part of turning the environment in ones' favor, and given the massive variety of terrains out there, it's safe to say that there's always a way to use your surroundings to your advantage." Ulquiorra then briefly looks up toward the sky and speaks; "Weather is indeed another variable to take into consideration when battling. Fog and mist are the most significant weather events to me, they can be used in order to perform subtle, covert attacks if the user knows what they are doing. No matter how powerful the enemy may be, a well planned series of attacks, distractions, and movements alongside the mist will certainly prove to be their muffled demise."*

You're probably wondering why I asked you to do that. Here's why. In certain environments, shinobi exist who can launch attacks difficult to perceive. During rainy conditions, a rain user can sharpen a single or multiple droplets of rain into needle-like blades, granting them the ability to kill you without you even realizing it. The same applies to snowy conditions, hail and etc. Sand users are particularly dangerous in deserts. There are even some ninja which can manipulate the temperature of the battlefield itself e.g. Custom Elements: Arid and Temperature. If you're fighting in a extremity climate (very hot or very cold), you'd be at a serious disadvantage.

Awareness is key. No matter how strong any opponent is, if he or she has no knowledge of your next attack, they're probably done for. Knowledge is power. Being wary at all times and having the necessary skills to perceive all types of offensives are essential to your survival. I've broken down the three main causes of death for shinobi due to a lack of awareness in battle.

Speed enhancements
These can come in many forms such as: Leg Weights, Bijuu chakra cloaks, Elemental armours, Swift Release and the Eight Inner Gates. However, many people can come to access quick usage speed boosts (which aren't continuous) which allow the user to move from one location to another with near untracakble speeds.

The best way to counter these is to first recognize a speed enhancement has been used e.g Leg Weights dropping, a cloak manifesting and etc. After that happens, either manipulate the terrain to your favour (e.g. create a swamp) or construct a defensive shield/armour to protect yourself.

Attacks invisible to the naked eye
Observe the distortions in the air, the sounds they create and so on. However, most of the time this will not help.

Genjutsu/Illusionary techniques
The first step in realizing a genjutsu is observing for anything overly-obvious or something which would naturally probe your character's suspicion. In battle, I want you to observe even the smallest of disturbances in your surroundings and the slightest inconsistencies. I want you to notice, if a tree begins coiling around you, does it produce growing sounds as it emerges ? If a fireball is shot towards you, does the heat of the technique resonate from it and make you feel like the temperature is rising ? If you see an illusionary clone walking towards you, does it bend the grass when it walks ? If you get burnt by something, does the wound sizzle as the burn is inflicted ? Does the water beneath your feet ripple when you walk, or make any splashing sounds ?

Pay very close attention to the senses a technique affects, its fundamental to breaking a genjutsu. If a technique doesn't specify the senses it affects, make sure you don't assume anything. Find other ways of seeing through the technique. Does the illusion respect the laws of reality ? Does the illusion distort happen to abruptly and distorts the natural occurrence of events ? I can't teach you how to realize every genjutsu, I can only teach you the concept of doing so. The rest is up to how much you take away from this training. One thing to bare in mind is, when you're trying to realize genjutsu, don't come up with extremely complicated thought processes or anything which wouldn't be realistic in the heat of a battle. I don't want you to "god-mod" or try to use knowledge your character doesn't have to break Genjutsus. You must be realistic and legitimate in the way you break genjutsus.

All of this is said from my perspective. My bios do not possess any sensory capabilities or a Doijutsu. If you wield sensing or a Doijutsu, you'll have a much greater sense of awareness compared to normal shinobi. You're capable of tracking faster speeds, "knowing" about invisible attacks and detecting foreign chakra in your bodies (Genjutsu). If this sort of thing intrigues you, you might like to look into the Byakugan.

Once you've read and understood the above, post here and we'll move onto the techniques.
