Firstly i would like to say that i am a fan of both Naruto and Sasuke, i love both characters and they both add something to the story that the other character cannot.
We all know that within the ninja world there is a cycle of revenge, this cycle is both driven and re-enacted by the same thing - the intrinsic human desire for revenge.
So how did this cycle start, what was the cause of this cycle.
We know that within the Narutoverse - there have been 3 great ninja wars -
The first ninja war was the battle between different tribes - differing abilities and family trees finding things to hate in another type of person - prejudice and jealousy.
These tribes soon evolved into Villages - and with the creation of these villages the cycle continued and war sprouted once more, furthermore the death and destruction of individual smaller villages lead even more alliances to occur and more quests for revenge began.
This cycle continued, spreading like a spider web from village to village and person to person, with ninjas and innocents dying.
To understand this cycle we must explore the history of narutoverse - namely the Sage of 6 Paths (So6P).
We know that he was the creator of Ninjutsu and therefore also a master of all types of ninjutsu due to his possession of the Rinnegan. We also know that he was the Junchuuriki of the 10 Tails. The So6P was also alive only before the first great ninja war, he helped to maintain the balance of good and evil and the ninja world.
It has also been stated that the Tailed beasts are the embodiment of chakra made up of the hate and tension between humans.
In other words they are the creations of humans and our hatred, the capture of the 10 tails is what brought peace into existence, a peace that was sustained until the So6P died and split the beast into 9 different parts.
Soon after their release the first ninja war began, therefore the tailed beasts are the cause of hate - the release of hate and the beginning of the cycle of revenge.
Thus i believe that the only way for the Narutoverse to reach true peace is for the 10 tailed beast to reunite (maybe Tobi knows this already? = Moons eye plan + 10 Tails Junchuuriki) and for that hate to be joined together and contained. Perhaps this is why the So6P was able to tame / make friends with all of the beasts and form positive relationships with them - their individual personalities and imperfections are irrelevant once joined together.
For lack of a better example, perhaps the book series 'Keys to the Kingdom' is a nice idea where the seperate parts of the 'will' compare, with the tailed beasts, each offering a different attribute and personality that when combined can reach ultimate perfection and power.
To extend this argument i would also like to talk about the reaction to the Naruto universe from both Sasuke and Naruto.
As i said before, i am not biased by either character and like them both
BUT
Frankly Sasuke is just being a bitch about his life - Naruto suffered in exactly the same way.
Where Naruto thrived off his troubles and overcame them, Sasuke let them consume him.
The whole moral of Naruto is that betrayal begets blood (a common theme amongst ninja movies TBH) - Sasuke is a victim of the cruel ninja world while Naruto is a person who can see the world for what it really is and is attempting to change it (with the will of J-man, Nagato, Itachi etc to guide him).
That's why Naruto is our 'hero', and Sasuke is the 'villain'.
Naruto knows that if he kills Sasuke then the cycle will only continue with blood begetting blood.
This will hopefully be the last ninja war - the united efforts of all the villages in a battle against a common enemy - Honestly Tobi really acts as a catalyst for peace and a means for Naruto to become the 10 tails.
The only true way to reach peace is for Naruto to become the Jinchuuriki of the 10 tails (sorry bee!) and thus end the cycle of hate - at least until he reaches his old age
Just an opinion - will hopefully be able to get some chapter images once i get home from school
Also just to clarify - i am not implying that Naruto will be the next So6P - nor will he get the Rinnegan - just that he will be the Junchuuriki of the 10 tails.
