If y'all remember, in the fight against Pein when Naruto reached the 8th tail, he was able to blast fire from his mouth. Why is that?

Lmao I remember someone made this exact same thread years ago. The answer that was universally agreed upon back then was simply that the scene in question was anime only and was likely just visual spectacle since the Nine-Tails never spewed fire in the anime since then.

But it's based off the myth that the nine tailed fox could breathe fire, plus bijuu are capable of using jutsu. Kurama may have known Katon because he used it with Madara in the off-panel scenes.

No he didn't learn anything off panel and being based off something doesn't mean it's going to be exact. Kishi gave each biju a specific ability and Kurama's is sensing positive and negative emotions.

Kishi always makes his character feats based off specific real life mythology characters that inspired him. I.e : Sasuke being the best lightning user is because he's a reference to the Hindu god of lightning.

Kurama breathing fire could actually be an advice Kishi gave the animators.

Kishi didn’t give Kurama fire, it was Studio Pierrot that gave kurama that ability.
And Kishi also doesn’t give mythology based characters actual mythology feats otherwise 9 tails wouldn’t have the ability to sense negative emotions.
