Number 1: there is no proof that Asura was a jinchuriki. In fact, the Sage stated that Asura worked his ass off, and as a result, chakra bloomed from his body, which implies that he wasn't a Jinchuriki, rather hat was his own power.

Number 2: Madara was the one using Kurama in the fight against Hashirama, not the other way around.

Number 3: Naruto is indeed stupid. However the dude knows how to fight, just like Hashirama does. His intelligence inside of battle is underrated because of his intelligence outside of battle. He's smart as **** in a fight, and he's shown that repeatedly, without Kurama's advice. Need examples?
Ex1: from part 1. Naruto and Sasuke vs Zabuza. Naruto came up with the shuriken idea.
Ex2: also from part one. Naruto vs Neji. How he tricked Neji.
Ex3: also from part one. Naruto figuring out how to use Rasengan on his own.
Ex4: part 2: fight against Kakashi. He outsmarted Kakashi.
Ex5: part 2: figuring out how to create a Rasenshuriken.
Ex6: part 2: vs Kakuzu. Outsmarted Kakuzu.
Ex7: part 2: figuring out how to throw Rasenshuriken.
Ex8: part 2: figuring out how to maintain sage mode w/o ma and pa due to Kurama's interference
Ex9: part 2: vs pain. The entire fight he outsmarted pain. Even figured out how to locate Nagato
Ex10: part 2:let's not forget that NARUTO was the one to figure out that sage mode was Juubito's weakness, as well as divising various methods to incorporate nature energy to tailed beast bombs.
Ex11: part 2: figuring out how to share chakra with the entire alliance, making sure that the chakra he hands out suits each individuals needs.
Ex12: saving his and Sasuke's asses by grabbing on to Minato so Minato could teleport them to safety
Ex13: coming up with the strategy to teleport the entire shinobi alliance.

There's more that I left out, but the point I made is that Naruto's in battle wit is definitely not to be underestimated, he could keep up with Sasuke. He's not as dumb as people make him out to be, and doesn't receive that much advice from Kurama anyway.

Lol yeah, you're right. I just got annoyed with the whole theme of late on this base being that naruto needs help to fight on par with Sasuke. I've seen a lot of threads like that lately, no idea why...
