I agree that Tesla was better than Edison ( yeah ! he made some inventions that was great and his life story is inspiring ) as i heard Tesla made many discoveries while he has been trying make his inventions but he didn't kept any notes about them so there must be more inventions he made than we know .

Well good to know, not that it matters to me. I never quite remember names of people but the principles of nature and inventions, of course unless it's exam and I have to pass. You know that stupid question that comes in exams, "Who invented Light Bulb?", well to hell with the truth or whatever you want to call it, at the end of the day we both know we'll be writing the answer as,"Thomas Edison". This world doesn't care about those tiny little dark secrets, no they want to continue believing how 'just' this universe is under the almighty God.

Anyway, something I found about him. His visionary idea of exploiting energy from any place of the universe is superb, if only becomes true. Though I don't know if it's possible.

This was rather obvious. Anyone with half a brain knows this. Tesla's actual principles he developed and founded behind electricity are still used today. Edison doesn't even compare.

People from Oatmeal are awesome.

Here were I live we are learned to love Tesla, btw. I can't really say much from that reason.

Not only did Edison* electrocute animals, but he also hired a few people to develop an electric chair using AC electricity. That’s how cruel he was. Edison would do anything to advocate that AC electricity was dangerous and inferior to DC electricity.

At the end of the day, Tesla’s contributions to society were far greater than that of Edison. The major advantage AC has over DC was: it enabled transmission of power over long distances with minimal energy loss. The increased efficiency greatly reduce the cost of electricity, which allowed everyone, not just the rich people, to access and use electricity.

Anyone who did did physics back in high school would know all of this. Heck, I wouldn't even be surprise if other people knew this.

Hahahah... Thomas Edison "invented" :* silly you...
i've done my research, he was a complete douchebag. i can link you 100 sources and books that says he was a complete douchebag, stealing ideas and patents.
I am Sure Edison was more than that and Don't call him Douchebag . I agree Tesla was better than Edison and vision and Idea was far more greater . I rather say Tesla 's work is far more influential .

I have worked in one of Edison's thesis in my undergrad you have no right to claim he is stealer. His Invention influenced the idea of Tele Communication .

Please never look down at the Great Man i respect his work and he is one of the few influential people in this world . He is more than that of Phonography you know . XD

Not to mention every electrical concepts including the basic Ohm's Law is made on the foundations of alternating current.

Tesla was a geek genius, too ahead of his time but he failed to capitalize his inventions so he ended up broke.
Edison was typical capitalist pig but that does not mean you can discredit him.

I honestly don't know too much about the guy but I think people wank him way too hard and I'm gonna call BS on some if not a lot of those things.

Not writing it down is the biggest cop out ever. I'm not saying he's not a genius, all I'm saying is he's not some omniscient God like people make him out to be.

And what the f*ck is this "real geek"/"fake geek" crap. Smh...

A response to the Oatmeal

Not that most people would read the article, just putting it out there. The OP decided to start a debate on a subject but present arguments through a pic. We a are talking about Tesla and Edison here. The War of Currents. AC vs DC. I find it amusing that people would start a debate and not put their own thoughts on the subject. Just regurgitate someone else thoughts. Although I am guilty of that as well in this post.

But I do not think that Tesla and Edison is not all what they are made out to be according to the comic. Both were great thinkers, but both also capitalized and took credit for other peoples work. Both are innovators in that they improved upon a concept. But they wouldn't be nowhere without Micheal Faraday.

edit:

And the oatmeal's response to the Forbes article

Lastly, I'm a comedian and I speak in Hyperbole. If you sharpshoot my work you will find that I exaggerate for the sake of comedy
Interesting quote from the author of the original comic strip.
