Imagine if he realised his dream of sharing an unlimited source of energy for the whole world, unregulated and free to all.

Thomas Edison invented 100s of things including the phonograph, the motion picture and the mimeograph.

This picture is wrong and boasts incorrect information and if you take it seriously, you're a fool. The Oatmeal is just a comic that gets things wrong on a regular basis. Tesla didn't even invent AC, it was in use before he was born! Edison did however, promote the practical DC and through a lot of work, made the light bulb a viable, practical product where it wasn't so before.

The difference between Tesla and Edison is that the former mainly conceptualized impractical, unusable things whereas Edison brought a lot of practical inventions that helped society progress. This comic fails to even relate occurrences to their time; a complete joke.

Edison >> Tesla

Don't believe everything on the internet, this has incorrect information.

doesn't matter how much i'd google or read from the books at the library...
i've never heard anyone state that Edison was actually a great inventor, but rather he stole patents and only "improved" certain inventions to "make them his own creations"
out of his "1093 inventions" i guess he might've come up with only a handful of them.

Such a fraud.

Everyone who knows electricty knows Tesla>>Edison.
indeed... Tesla > Edison when it comes to electricity...
but there are also a lot of people that was employeed by Edison, who invented a lot of new stuff for him...
and as soon as something new was invented, he called it "his" work.

it's just as if Ingvar Kamprad would tell the world that he's the one who designed every furniture at IKEA o_O
he owns the company, yes. but he pays other people to design and build the furnitures...
and he's not a douchebag that would label them "made by Ingvar Kamprad"

Edison owned the company, but he paid other people to invent stuff.
when there happened to be a new invention, Edison just ran to get the patent asap to call it "his work" o_O

I am gonna double post just for this.

Did you just say DC>AC. I want to face palm myself but I wont. The fact is without AC you wont be getting the electricity which you used for typing up this retarded post. Edison did great things yes but compare to Tesla it was insignificant. Edison may have made more things but the things tels did has muc more monumental impact that Edison/s ever did.
Hahahaha i'm dying a little bit :')

The fact is Edison's inventions wont work without AC. Also inb4 someone says DC is required for most things. Yes it does, but AC is the fundamental on which everything electric concepts are based on. Relays, Transmitters etc etc. I am not sure how much of a douche Edison was, but Tesla's "discoveries" pretty much shook up the electrical work. Everything I study or an electric engineer studies has to do with Tesla. Without Tesla, we will be still in the stone age with oil lamps.
