Personality:
Grayson is a world class detective on par to the likes of Batman. He was rigorously trained by the Dark Knight in everything from escapology to criminology, fencing, stealth, disguise, and numerous other combat/non-combat disciplines. However, he has a sense of humor. During a mission, he is the one making jokes when the odds seem stacked against him. He is also a brilliant and experienced strategist with superlative leadership skills. Additionally, his efforts to remain in contact with other heroes makes him a master at rallying, unifying, and inspiring the community, a skill in which he has surpassed his mentor.
He's extremely strong, and knows it. However, he won't kill in cold blood if he can avoid it. He uses his strength not as a weapon, but as a tool to protect those, who cannot protect themselves. Thus, he has a lot of compassion that he uses in and out of battle.

Background Info
History:
Nightwing was born into the circus. He was born into the noble Hyuuga family, but his parents had abandoned the traditional Hyuuga way. They had abandoned that life, and set out for the circus. He grew up spending his time learning acrobatics, and even managing to do a quadruple somersault by the age of 10. His family wasn't very wealthy, but they were able to survive. They had a lot of fun, and performed all over the world. They were very famous, being called the "Flying Graysons".
However, it wasn't to last. When he was 12, they were in the cloud village. They were going to perform for the raikage himself. Unfortunately, a local gang was giving them trouble. They wanted "protection" money. His parents refused, but the gang was angry. The gang's leader Zoro.. was a ruthless mob boss. He wasn't going to let some simple circus folk make a fool out of him.
During the show, Zoro.. sabotaged their net, it was used as a fail safe in case they messed up. He also sabotaged their rope, cutting it thin before the show. When his parents were on it, it snapped from the weight. Sadly, they fell to their deaths.
Luckily however, a rich multi-billionaire and kage named Erzo was in attendance. He took young Richard under his wing, and took him back to his village. There, he trained as a shinobi. He joined a special group of Anbu, they were called the bats. He was code-named Robin, and put under the wings (ha see what I did there?)of Erzo who was code-named batman. They were able to hunt rogue ninja, and were vigilantes in the ninja world.
Their lives went well, but Robin kept thinking back to the night his parents died. He knew who had killed them, and he was out for revenge. He would set out each night, without Batman to search. One night, he got a lead. Zoro.. was holed up in a warehouse. Robin went, easily by passing the security. He found him then. He beat him to within an inch of his life. Zoro.. however in a fear, detonated the warehouse. Robin ran as fast as he could, jumping out an open window just in the nick of time! However, Zoro.. wasn't so lucky...
Over the years, Batman and Robin grew apart. Robin was upset that he was being treated like a child. Eventually, he left. He moved to a ravaged, and poor city called Bludhaven. It was being torn apart by crime. It needed a hero...taking up the name Nightwing, he hoped to be that hero.
"I'm the protector of this city. I know how arrogant that sounds, and I know that I operate outside of the law sometimes -- but I also know that I've trained hard to do this work, and that I fully understand the complexities of the job. I have experience, I have motive, and I have backup. So as insane as it is to be out here at all, I'm the closest you'll get to the real thing."
Meanwhile, Batman had found a new Robin. It was a young street bandit named 'Kurapika. Batman saw some of his skill, as he was robbed. He made him Robin, in an attempt to replace Nightwing. The young Robin however, was brash. He heard a rumor that his mother, was in another country. He went, but it was a trap! Batman's worst enemy, Scaze was responsible. He brutally beat 'Kurapika with a crowbar, and blew up the building they were in, killing him. Batman heard, and raced to the scene! He was too late though, arriving just in time to see the explosion.
"'When you look into the abyss, the abyss also looks into you.' And unless you're stone, it changes you. It has to. There I was. Six feet under. Buried over. And I'm not stone. Never wanted to be. Never thought I had to block out the rest of the world and never wanted to hide from it. Still, sometimes late at night, half asleep, half god knows what ... it suddenly bothers me that they say the nut doesn't fall that far from the tree."
Batman was becoming unstable, paranoid, and some would even say insane. He needed a robin. Help came in the form of young Baldy.. He had deduced the identity of Batman. Greatly surprised by his detective skills, Batman took him in. He became a fine Robin. One that would last.
In Bludhaven, Richard was doing well. He had bought himself an apartment. He would fight crime at night, and go to school in the morning. He had built a nice home for himself. Crime was greatly reduced in the city, and everyone was wondering about the mysterious Nightwing.
Sadly, in a terrible attack, Batman was killed. Robin was alone, he was good but was slowly losing it. Nightwing knew he had to return. He left, and took up the mantle of Batman. Baldy.. however, would not accept Erzo's death. He went to travel the world in search of Erzo. He called himself the Red Robin.
The new Batman, adopted Daemon as his new Robin. Daemon was the illegitimate son of Erzo, he had inherited a lot of his skills. They did extremely well together, becoming good friends as well as partners. Later however, Erzo had returned! It seemed that he was just kidnapped by an evil villain named Zanda! The others stayed behind, but he took up the title of Nightwing once again.

He was extremely skilled in the water release, making it his favorite element. He is able to use water in a very creative and versatile way. He was able to master it to such a degree that he can use all the water jutsu with just a single handseal.
Multilingual:
Having had the finest education as Bruce Wayne's ward, he speaks with fluency in English, French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, German, Swahili, Mandarin, Cantonese, and Latin. He is able to speak the languages with no trace of anysort of accent, of course being trained by the best.
The Nightwing Suit:
Nightwing's current costume is made of a version of a Nomex, triple-weave-lined material. It is an excellent protection against damage, and it's also insulated. Instead of a black cape for stealth, the suit is light sensitive, darkening when there is more light in the area. The current costume is a stylized blue "wing" across his shoulders and extending to his hands, coloring his two middle fingers, over a black torso and legs. Nightwing's costume is tailored specifically to his unique style of crime-fighting. As such, his costume has fewer body-armor inlays than Batman's, anticipating a decreased need for shock-absorption and an increased capacity for motion ("Move more, get hit less."). The mask, in the form of his symbol, is fixed in place with a sticky material, and includes a built-in radio transmitter/receiver for use in Missions. His gauntlets and boots each contain eight compartments in which he can store items. Each gauntlet's sections can contain a wide array of equipment, such as smoke pellets, flash bombs, modified shuriken (called wing-dings used same as a regular shuriken). Like the gauntlets, his boots can carry vital elements like breathing masks, lock picks, and a first aid kit. Held in pouches in the back of his costume, Nightwing carries a pair of Escrima sticks made of metal. These are for use in close-combat. Whenever possible, Nightwing wears the suit.
