We all know that the Zetsu, with the mask like tobi it's a good guy... and he doesnt know the plan that's why the other white zetsu says he's a good guy. Madara gonna kill Rin so Obito will get mad and it's going to complete Madara's plan. Although right now Obito thinks he can save kakashi and rin but is not like that, or maybe other zetsu will act like they are Rin and kakashi and make a scene about them dying manipulating Obito to be a bad guy.

BTW Obito look awesome with long hair!

so I dont think Madara preplanned to pick Obito...but after finding Obito
knowing about his dedication to friends Madara may have did what you said to manipulate him
