Thanos wasn't that selfish was he? Wasn't he altruistic about his agenda? He wasn't just pretending to be selfless so he could get something for himself he was selfish for the sake of being unselfish.
The Avengers were seemingly unselfish but acted selfishly, Wanda didn't wanna kill Vision because she loved him, that's selfish for a seemingly unselfish reason.
