Next episode: possible inconsistency?

Well, according to the preview, Kakashi is supposed to be Kushina's bodyguard while she's giving birth.

But we saw in the manga that when Kyuubi was released, Kakashi was just hanging around the village with Guy. And then, soon after, he and his peers were ordered to stay out of this.

What do you think about it? Will it be just another anime inconsistency, or will it be explained in a legit way? The ways I see it could be possibly explained:
1) Minato changed his plans and for some reason Kakashi was not Kushina's bodyguard after all.
2) Kakashi used a kage bunshin to pretend he's hanging around the village, while in fact the real Kakashi was one of the ANBU bodyguards.

I personally like the second option best.
Do you think it's an inconsistency or do you think there is some valid explanation? If so, what might it be?

from what I recall, all the bodyguards were killed by Tobi, and Kakashi is pretty much alive.

I think he meant Kakashi will be her bodyguard for the pregnancy, but for whatever reason, he wasn't there for the birthing

Well, it might be explained why Kakashi survived.
Who exactly said that Obito killed all of ANBU bodyguards?
If Minato said it, then it was probably his guess, because he didn't see it happening.
If Obito said it, he might have believed so, because he might have not even met Kakashi for some reason. He killed all the ANBU he found.

I guess we'll have to wait till the next episode to find out, but still, that's intriguing.

This picture shows that the Anbu was not that of Minato but the third hokage. That is why Kakashi wasnt part of them. Simple

The next episode's preview also showed Danzo standing behind Kakashi. And that was the time when Kakashi shares the information about Kushina's pregnancy with Rin.
Now then, what we already know?
Danzo and Tobi worked together for Uchiha Massacre. Tobi and Itachi worked together for the same.
What I think is Danzo stopped Kakashi from guarding Kushina at the cave so that Tobi could do his work without interference of Kakashi's Sharingan.
That's a possibility for now.
