If you were to try to count up all of the aspiring make up artists in the world, you’d run out of numbers before you even reached the halfway point. They’re called artists for a reason, though. Knowing what to apply, where to apply, and how much to apply takes finesse and experience. An untrained eye has no clue as to the precision and care that goes into contouring the face and really bringing out the natural beauty that is waiting to be revealed.
Of course, not everyone can get into beauty school. Not everyone recognizes the talent and skill that is required to achieve magazine levels of professional gigs. There are some who just cake on as much as possible anywhere they can and wind up looking more like the clown from Stephen King’s IT instead of Beyoncé. Getting makeup in your eye on accident is one thing, but deliberately trying to add the sparkle to your look that your idols have and self-inflicting injury isn’t the way to go. A pretty good rule of thumb to follow is that if it hurts, you’re probably doing it wrong. Someone get these fools to an eyewash station, STAT!
