you're right mentors are there to guide the players. players can talk with their mentor all the time. they can ask them anything like how to play or what to do in certain situations, any tips or tricks and their mentor will aid them with that

yes one mentor is for town and the other one is for mafia

hosts are restricted in many ways and can't guide the players hence the mentors
