As I said in my first post, I'm just getting into Naruto. Like I'm still on chapter one.
So, as says the title, I'm wondering if I should watch the anime or read the manga. Yeah I know, I've heard it all before; the manga is way better, doesn't have filler, it's behind, yeah I get it. Hear me out though.
The reason I'm so seriously considering the anime is because of two things:
One, I honestly don't like the art style of the manga - there's too much going on in each panel, and with all the intense details (black details in white shapes and white details in black shapes) and the ubiquitous motion lines, mixed with the fact that I'm partially dyslexic and have mediocre vision, and I can't really see what's going on half the time - I had to reread three pages to get what was going on when Naruto's teacher got stuck full of knives by that guy trying to steal the scroll. First time around I thought Naruto did it! Anyway, the anime has clean lines, defined shapes and action, and from what I have seen off hand, good animation and sound. Also color - that helps.
Two, I am way behind, and very busy, and watching a show requires less attention than reading. On second thought, though, I can read it anywhere, but still.

Come to think of it, doing Naruto at all seems like a really large commitment, considering I'm already into The X-Files, Psych, Sherlock, Doctor Who,and Archer. If I'm going to do Anim/anga, I might as well go with Fullmetal Alchemist or Death Note. Frankly, they both look way better.

Sorry I'm kind of thinking out loud here.

So yeah there's that. Also - what's the difference between just Naruto and Naruto Shippuden? Are there any other derivatives? Why do so many anim/angas have such arbitrarily identical derivitaves? (Example - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - AKA exactly the same as original with better animation)

FMA and Death Note are both really good. Naruto is a long time commitment but I would still recommend it. It has a lot of emotional value that Death Note and FMA just can't touch.

Naruto Shippuden is a timeskip of Naruto. Yeah, both will take you a long time to catch up, but the anime will take MUCH longer.

Naruto is when the main characters are 12-13. Shippuden is when they are 16 and its 10000000000x better

I'd recommend watching the anime pre-Shippuden, then pick up with the manga. Shippuden starts at Chapter 239.

By then, the art gets a lot better.

Watch anime until you reach the latest then continue from manga.

Also don't get on this forum to avoid the open spoilers. :D

If you wanna catch up, I suggest reading the manga. Then, if you wanna see the fights, you can go back and watch them via the anime. Watching all of the anime would take you a long time. I think it took me like a whole summer to watch it entirely, and I watched, on average, 5 episodes a day. So...
