I think it would be a good idea to have the opportunity to at least have a set of colours to choose from as premium different to those already in use by mods, administrators, contest winners and all. Besides there are those little banners below the avatars identifying them as such or the symbol of the contest that person won.

I'd support this idea

The problem with his try was that he applied to the glow with different base colors. If you use Black as the Base color, there is a big difference. Compare Red Glow with Red Base and Red Glow with Black Base.
