Regarding the new Like and Dislike buttons.

Do they work in the same manner as Reps? As in, is your rep affected at all? Or is this like a second thing in addition to the rep bar? Or is just a new feature that doesn't serve a purpose besides letting people express their opinion without affecting anything?
