I'm planning on buying a new desktop. I didn't have one before so I'll have to buy everything.
I will mostly use it to game or to make some things on photoshop.

So yeah, can someone give me some good hints on what I should look for?

Alienware PCs are good for hardcore gaming, as they can come with powerful graphics cards and powerful processors. They are a tad bit expensive though :p

Get yourself an AMD anthlon or higher with atleast 4GB RAM and 120 GB hard. AMD is the perfect for gaming and using photoshop.
I got an AMD too and I uses photoshop cs5 and play games like NFS THE RUN, GTA_IV, DBZ infinite war etc and never had a problem like slow.

Get an amd llano they have integrated graphics or wait for trinity the next geeneration of llano....or you can get an athlon or phenom...plus if you go for athlon, phenom or i3,i5 then consider buying a nice graphic card..
Amd 7770 sounds good and is cheap or if you want a powerful graphicx card then go for 7950 or 7979

Decent graphic card for gaming+PS
Decent processor for all over performance and decent amount of ram as well.
prolly a decent HD for storage.

Everything needs to be decent really, it just depends on what price range you have. I'd recommend an online webstore for it, but it's up to you.

Don't listen to Wesobi. You definitely need a Sun Black Box! Nothing is better than a multimillion dollar portable datacenter!

Just remember when you do get something. Make sure they are all at equal speeds and not neglectmone piece. It doesn't matter how much ram you have if you have a slow hard drive. Doesn't matter how fast your CPU is if you have a slow ram. Doesn't matter if your graphics card is the best if your CPU is slow. Just make sure with your money you even it out n all the parts. But if you had to concentrate on a particular areA with money, I'd got with mobo power supply CPU ram graphics card in that order then evetrthing else

he already said what I wanted to advise you, hehe.

AMD's are best for gaming/graphic platform.
That's what I've been using for years and never dissapointed me!

CPU: AMD Athlon and above
RAM: Kingston 2GB minimum imo, DDR2 or 3
Graphics: at least NVidia GeForce GTS250
HDD: Mainly anything but with 7200 RPM(rotations per minute)

these would be the minimum requirements...

Last week I could hardly find a DDR2 ram for my old PC, they're kind of getting old nowadays.

well yeah, that's why I said DDR2 or DDR3... if I am correct, they are planning to get out on the market, if they didn't already do that, the ddr5...
