Honestly I liked the chapter and it showed how Madara underestimated Gai and now he looks stupid for it.

When Kishi killed off a major character without a prior flashback (Neji) people all around the net were mad about him not getting enough attention from the author.
Now, when Kishi did make a flashback for another upcoming major death, people are mad that they got flashback instead of pure action.
Guess one can never please them, at least when it comes to Naruto...

i think people are just impatient so they call it a bad chapter which is really an unfair judgement heck some didnt even read it which is stupid. people should lighten up flashbacks are away for the author to expand their world and give more to a character so they are never useless or pointless as at times flashbacks are used to show what the character is going through so they are repeated on multiple times manly near the climax of the arc. people need to realise that a story is not a slideshow so its not always going to progress the plot but more fleshing out the world which is as important as plot progression.
