in general OP is better.

FT has short arcs and has a fast pace. you really enjoy watching each episode. has about 150 episodes and 300 chapters. easy to catch up.

OP has very long arcs. and pace is really slow. a manga chapter is about as long as an anime episode. in the anime they drag things out too much. so you might get bored while watching. however there are some episodes that you'll watch over and over again. and once you catch up to manga it's the best. pace of the manga is just as it should be and each chapter is amazing. OP has about 560 episode and 680 chapters. it's enough to keep you busy for about 2-4 months.

Pretty much this, you'll have to watch the first episodes but it gets better. I personally disliked fairy tail because there's too much fanservice (hey, but that's just me, you have your own opinion on this).

IMO watch Bleach. Absolutely amazing Anime. It has stopped airing though, but i think its coming back. It is so far up to 509th Manga chapter and 366th Anime episode, so by the time you catch up, it should be back.

One Piece will be an amazing experience in the long run though I would suggest some short series before you get into that. It will take you months to catch up with the latest episode if you're not watching them nonstop 24/7
