"One website, one account, one password…in other words, no Qwikster."
October 10, 2011
It hasn't even been a month since Netflix announced spin-off company Qwikster, but today CEO Reed Hastings has confirmed that Netflix will remain a single entity.
In a new blog post, Hastings announced the decision.
"It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs," he wrote. "This means no change: one website, one account, one password…in other words, no Qwikster."
Few other details were provided, and it's unclear what this means for game rentals, a feature announced alongside Qwikster. The change has already taken effect, and Qwikster.com now forwards to Netflix.com.
In addition to the announcement, Hastings confirmed that the company will not be changing its pricing any time soon.
"While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes," he wrote.
"We value our members, and we are committed to making Netflix the best place to get movies & TV shows."
