It doesn't matter if Nel used to be 3. Nnoitra explained that the level of the Espada as a whole increased since Nel was a part of them. Nel's #3 is far far far inferior to Halibel's #3

It's been 17 months since we last saw Grimjow and he's done nothing except train extensively. No one has his level of determination so you can bet your ass that he's made the 17 months worth it. If you were to compare Grimmjow's current strength with the old Espada, he'd easily be in the top 3 by now.

Grimmjow would win this fight.
