Nah! sakura fans were getting a little too out of control! >:I needed something to send them to the backseat and neji"s sacrifice was the perfect weapon to do so! also neji's dead was like in a sense freeing a bird from its cage, he finally choose and beated destiny!

It also served to show naruto's resolve, and how he would handle something like this, as well as neji's drastic change from the very start. His belief in destiny, and now he is free

But a pairing is not more important than Neji imo; it could be canon in a different way.(And i do not care about the pairings)
Neji did not change overall destiny; i wanted him to be free when he is alive; he still had to die for being free unlike other people; he deserved better than dying at the age of 17; i hope the other branch family members will get rid of the seal when they are alive.
