We needed more Hyuga development, and it would've been great to have him, Hinata, and Hiashi, along with the other members of the Hyuga, all fighting together and revealing techniques exclusive to their clan and their true power.

Ugh...one can only dream.

Its not like he would have shown anything new. We've pretty much seen everything he has to offer by the time he died. Plus it wasn't even that early, imo.
