Do you think Neji has surpassed his uncle and has become the strongest in the Hyuuga Clan? Or is Hiashi too much for him?

Restrictions: Hiashi can't use the hyuuga clan curse seal against Neji

I am seeing some very sound thoughts about the matter. I too think that Neji himself has some way to go before he will be able to become the strongest of the Hyuuga clan.

I don't think he's the strongest Hyuga yet. Maybe the strongest Hyuga for his age.
True, and besides if Neji has surpassed his uncle, in raw streght and in skill it wouldn't be much, because his uncle has all the techniques of the Hyuga clan, I don't think Neji even knows half of them because he belongs in the branch family, which is sad, I know, we all know Neji developed Rotation on his own, and problably, Sky Palm or whatever, you guys know what I mean, on his own too, and who knows maybe he develops even further to truly become the strongest Huyga yet

Neji can't catch up to the main household, that's his entire character- it's supposed to be ironic that he was born into the side branch while Hinata luckily inherited the main household. The main household obtains the true Hyuga powers, and the side branch protects the Hyuga secrets from other clans. Everyone was shocked that Neji discovered Hyuga secrets like rotation and 8 Trigrams 64 palms... Hinata will clearly surpass Neji, sadly.

Actually its quite the opposite. The irony of the hyuuga clan was that their most talented member came from the side branch, the branch that was supposed to be incapable of surpassing the main branch due to their limits set up by the clan itself. Neji has shown that through his feats of great observation and replication of the main branches most powerful jutsu that he is able to surpass the insurpassable and become one of the hyuuga clan's most powerful members.

Hinata's character is similar to Naruto and Lee. She may have been born into the most prominent position in the most prestigious clan, however, her timid nature and her lack of confidence keep her from developing as much as she was expected to and thus was shunned by her father. It was when she saw Naruto's work ethic that she was encouraged to keep trying no matter how difficult it was to progress. Doing so has earned her respect and love for Naruto and has helped her to become stronger as well through sheer effort.

+rep that's correct except for the relation to Naruto and Lee.

Naruto and Lee weren't expected to amount to anything like Hinata was. They were the shunned characters of their situation yet they amounted to something beyond what they were expected to. If anything, you relate them more to Neji then to Hinata. Even though Naruto and Lee's gain was more through their trainning, while Neji's was innate (so to speak), all three of those shinobi rose above what was expected of them and astonished those around them.

Hinata's the opposite, like you said. She was born, believed by many to become one of the best, while she just couldn't meet the extrodinary standards held by her father.

What I did notice however, was during the filler (even though it's a filler you could look beyond that to see clues about characters) where the Hyuuga assembly was called, every Hyuuga reacted with confusion as to why Neji, a branch member, was placed in charge of the clan instead of the rightful heiress Hinata. That adds to the argument of her being held to a higher standard, but it also shows that most of the clan wasn't really paying attention to her much and the ridicule she recieved was really only from her father. Everybody just assumed that Hinata was the heiress and was at that level but she wasn't and when Neji was placed in charge the clan was like wtf.

Yes you are correct yourself.

Although I was trying to portray that her character became similar to Naruto and Lees when Hiashi began to shun her because of her timidness and lack of ability and therefore, she was believed to be a worthless heir that was unable to amount to anything.

However, you have made some very valid points and I commend you for doing so. I hope we will have more conversations like this in the future. +rep
