[Discussion] Neji and Hinata

After the last chapter but also before, I always wondered what relationship Neji and Hinata had. The anime showed differences from the manga though.

Neji hated Hinata when his father died. He liked her when he was a very young kid and said she looks nice. When he learned his role, he seriously blamed her for everything and waited for a chance to fight her. He was probably jealous. and wanted to show off how much better he is. Kid stuff that went too far if you ask me.

He almost killed her and didn't care. Naruto beated some sense into him and from then on, I wonder what relationship they had. Did he just accept his role? Did he start to like and understand her? He truly understood that his situation is not her fault I think.

Hinata always calls him brother which shows that she might love him as a big brother. She never showed negative feelings for him, his death hurted her alot and she always looked up to him.

He started to train with her after the incident with Naruto. He treated her nicely but still distanced. The anime showed how their relationship was a little closer. He understood her feelings for Naruto and respected them. He supported them on the day when Naruto left for 3 years. He told her to go say goodbye to him. This is probably really how a bigger brother would treat his sister and help her getting over shyness. In the anime they seemed to be close.

In the manga, it was really different. She called him brother while he called her Lady Hinata. They never seemed so close which is sad. At the end it was him who always fully understood her feelings. He even tried to help her by telling Naruto the truth. She was very sad over his death. Maybe they just didn't have enough time.

Discuss, what do you think about their relationship. I think they deserve a thread.

Once Neji snapped out of his "destiny" stuff they were basically brother and sister. While not literally, they might as well have been.

Neji was awesome. Hinata is awesome. Although I guess Hinata had better start working on Kaiten >__>

Anyways you are basically spot on.

He liked her, dad died and he took it out on her. Naruto uppercuts him and he realizes he's being unfair, and that Hinata was suffering just like he was.

They basically become brother and sister despite being cousins....Neji just has that sense of being correct and formal (correct around everyone) so he still says Hinata-sama...his final line he said he understood what it was like dying for your friends so if that is any indication it shows that he died for Hinata and Naruto because they are Hinata and Naruto not main branch members

To be honest, I want to see Hinata after this. Don't get me wrong (although some of you will do it anyway), Hinata was always Naruto, Naruto, Naruto and seemed like she is not conscious that there are others around that needed to be protected, this war wasn't only about protecting Naruto, it was about everyone. So her focus on Naruto cost Neji's life.
I won't blame anyone, that's how Kishi made her, that's how Kishi decided to close Neji's character. HOWEVER, I am curious about the new Hinata, the Hinata after Neji's death. What impact will it have over her? What will she do?! Is she going to step-up and fight to protect everyone? It's time to see what she's made of! In the end, she's the Hyuga's heiress. So I, personally, want to see a whole new Hinata and how Neji's death affected her.

Good point, this might cause her to really step up to the plate and be the Hyuuga heiress.

Right, Chatte, that's indeed an interesting thought. I hope they won't simply move to the next scene. Another person said that Neji died for Naruto and Hinata. I wish that both of them wake up and make something out of it. Doesn't mean they have to fall in love but they both owe him to make his death for their life worth it.

I think something equal is going to happen with the kage group. I can see Tsunade dying and saving their lives so they can come up with something to make it worth it. It would be fair. Hey, in rl such things never happen, people just die. This is fiction, it has to be fair at the end.

The more people die, the more the other people on the battlefield will go numb. Means the reactions will be less and less strong. Ino's and Shikamaru's father died, nobody had time to say something. Same with Neji. I just hope it won't go as far as everyone just freezing. I really want some people to go insane over it and go on a killing spree.

This is what I see...Lee is a firey spirit so he will rampage...eventually he will be down after using gates and stuck in one place just as he was vs Gaara. Then, just before a Juubi tail crushes him, it is caught one handed by Gai...he is clearly in the 8th gate and has that pissed off expression. He will tell Lee that he already lost Neji, now he will protect something precious to him (the origional requirement to use the gates), and that it will be his precious students.


But yeah hoping Hinata goes on a rampage....I feel like she has the potential of Hiashi, but her gentle nature has been in the way....interested to see what happens

Neji died because he was enforcing part of Shikaku's plan. Protect Naruto. Team Gai or Hinata going on a rampage would mess up the plan and mean Neji died for nothing.

They have to remain cool just like Shika and Ino did.

Hmm interesting as always, this could be a kind of grown up moment for Hinata. I do hope they kind of tell us whats going on with her after losing Neji, afterall, Hinatas only focus was protecting Naruto...which is good and important...but it did kind of cost Neji his life. He made the decision though to protect them so its not all Hinata's fault lol Naruto's going to get more and more pissed off with the more people that die, itll be interesting to see whose next.

If Tsunade dies i see Naruto and Sakura going apeshit! at least i hope so lol

I hope Hinata starts raping people. I forgot Sakuras reaction to Tsunade's death would cause her to rampage... and while I hope she does something awesome I don't really see what either, her or Hinata's rampage could do against the current foes.

it wouldnt do anything really lol but itd be cool to see! Ino got a slight highlight...then bam daddys dead....Hinata got a highlight and now Neji is dead...itd be cool to see the girls kick ass!
