[Discussion] Negative Repping

I see people vm people a lot when that person has given them negative rep and they're upset. I always thought it was kind of silly until today.

I got my first neg rep today for something completely unprovoked or even involving the negative repper or anything. I just said my opinion on something before any arguments had begun. And I'll admit I was annoyed and neg repped them right back.

I think I feel that neg rep is like the lowest thing you can do to someone on here. I've never neg repped anyone besides this time, not even the people that I tend to fight with a lot. Does anyone else feel this way? To what level do you feel you need to be pushed to neg rep someone?

The part that got me really upset was what the person wrote in the comment box. They insulted me and called me simpleminded when they knew nothing about me and we've never even crossed paths before. Disagreeing with someone is fine and well, but disrespecting them is another matter.

I have only negative repped someone once. And the reason being they were posting useless and offensive threads one after another which were being taken down one after another by the mods.

Other than that, I have never felt the need to negative rep anyone.

Neg reps are dumb... Ive gotten them a few times for un necessary things but its the internet... And who really cares about rep? Only few people. I got neg repped 7 times by one person >_< I just neg repped them back. Thats what I do...

I don't get what your complaining about if someone likes your opinion they +rep you, people don't complain when it happens but when they neg rep you because they don't like your opinion it's the end of the world?

Well some people get angry... Look at my rep bar. Most people after they get past one or two dont care anymore.... Honestly I remember when I started on NB (not too long ago) and I would be really happy when someone rep+ me but when someone rep- me for no reason Id get mad but now idc...

Well yes I was annoyed about the unjustified -rep, but that wasn't the worse part. The part that got me really upset was what the person wrote in the comment box. Too many people are whining about getting neg-repped for completely idiotic reasons. I mean, are your reputation points on NB actually worth some form of currency? In fact, I find the reputation system as a whole silly. It's abused, and should not by any means be a part of NB, as, more than anything else, it simply complicates things.

In short: Don't care about your rep, it's as worthless as Kumi.

Yeah - on the one hand rep really doesn't mean a whole lot unless you actually have a red rep bar (in which case they're usually trolls and/or doing things that will get them banned).

On the other hand, it's a great way to show your support for someone with a well reasoned argument, great thread idea, nicely done artwork, etc.

Like I said - I have only negative repped someone once - but I think they eventually got banned anyway.

I completely agree. I think you should positive (+) Rep someone or not rep them at all. Negative (-) serves no purpose in such age/era where each individual is responsible for his/her own actions, the reward of stretching ones opinions and/or when effort talent is do.

I also been in a predicament when I was negative (-) Rep for going against an opinion for someone on NB a couple of months (or few years) back. He or Her stated that Sasuke was innocent and I proved them wrong. It's probably cause I did't prove enough evidence, even though I didn't have to, but what the heck. It's over and down with. That was my first negative (-) Rep.

Yeah for sure. I didn't even know that I cared about it until today. I mean the green bars are totally cute but they don't do anything. I was surprised that I was upset. Like I said I thought it was silly before.

Yeah Kumi is lame. When I found out what it was for I was disappointed. Never once has anyone even requested a fee for helping me out its pointless.

I got neg repped because this guy didn't want me to post his opinion on his board because he consistently bitched about how unsatisfied he was with the manga. I think his name was Rockspeed or something.

He told me in the comment box "Did I ask you no so stay away!!!!!!", in that exact way except I was nicer with the spelling. I was fine with the negative rep, seeing as my rep isn't too bad and I normally get a decent amount of repped posts (which I always return once I find a good post from that person). But then he talked about my mother and I got pretty nasty with him.

In my opinion, you can neg rep me all you want, but even if I hate you to no ends, I will never talk about your mother. Real men don't go that low. Some people on here I just want to meet in real life to scare them because you know they are scrawny ass bitches if they have to do shit like that from behind the computer.

Also- Rep isn't the biggest thing on here.

However, when you see someone who is rather rude have a post count of 1,500 or more and they only have one or two rep bars, you can kind of get a guess as to what this person is like and ignore them in the future better. Rep CAN be useful sometimes, but you see newer members on here too that haven't had time to build their rep.
