Deactivating his invisibility as his 2nd student arrives, Kakuzu can be seen with his eyes closed and in a meditative position.

Not a good first impression. Then again, first impressions tend to be wrong. Now, both of you, tell me everything you know about Ninjutsu.

"Ninjutsu is basically any technique which allows a ninja to do something that they otherwise would be incapable of doing, such as walking on water or up a tree. Unlike Genjutsu were the user casts a simple illusions, Ninjutsu is the complete opposite; very real. Ninjutsu is very versatile in means of use, ranging from ones like substitution to ones that are more complex like Raikiri or Rasengan. Most if not all Ninjutsu technique requires the use of chakra and hand seals for it to work.Besides from basic Ninjutsu, there are advanced types such as the nature transformations (Katon, Raiton, Futon, Doton & Suiton). Also, there is shape manipulation which is used to control the form of chakra and its physical properties."

Ninjutsu is being able to do things that one normally can't do, with the use of chakra and handseals. It can be in the form of five different elements. It all depends on ones nature type. For example, Lee can't use ninjutsu because he doesn't have a nature type. Its main purpose is to attack and defend, even though there are many other uses.

Kakuzu listens intently to his student's monologue, slightly disappointed with his shallow explanation on Ninjutsu.

Far too basic, you missed out on too many key things. I expect your future answers to be far more detailed. Instead of answeing my questions straight away, take some time to think before you speak. No need to rush this process, it will only run smoothly if you take your time. One key thing you failed to mention is that since Ninjutsu is a more primitive version of Elemental Ninjutsu, most techniques in this category are actually weak to all elemental ones. Few exceptions exist such as Rasengan, where the chakra is worked and molded with advanced shape manipulation, putting it on equal terms with elemental variants. Once you've read and understood the following, we will proceed.

Ninjutsu is the usage of chakra to perform various tasks which can't be performed otherwise. Its an extremely broad term and encompasses many things such as: weapon usage, medical uses, transformations and so on. Unlike Genjutsu, its effects manifest in reality and not solely in the illusonary. A notable user of Ninjutsu is the 2nd Tsuchikage due to his arsenal of highly regarded techniques. Through chakra manipulation alone, he could achieve flight through unknown means, turn his body completely invisible and "split" his chakra into two separate bodies. His splitting technique far surpassed conventional clone techniques as both halves of him are considered the "real" version of him, meaning they couldn't be dispersed.

Ninjutsu isn't solely based around chakra usage and performing complex techniques and maneuvers, but is also in reference to the skill set a ninja should possess. The term "Ninjutsu" literally means ninja skills, leading me to believe its actually a more abstract concept to what we first perceive. A ninja should be a keen analyzer of situations, capable of conjuring up plans, tactics and counters, both in the heat of a battle and in preparation for one. They must make proficient use of the various ninja tools at their disposal, using all of the utensils they possess to the fullest. Awareness is another very important skill a ninja should possess. Paying close attention to detail, making logical inferences about your opponent, gradually deciphering your opponent's fighting style, noticing minute disturbances in your surroundings and remaining vigilant at all times is required if a ninja is to survive. Often a lack of awareness leaves you prone to assassinations, being struck by invisible attacks or worse still, making you unable to realize nor release an illusionary technique.

Even with the astounding abilities a ninja can come to acquire, he/she should never overlook or forget these fundamental rules. It could very well result in their downfall.

Alright, our Ninjutsu training can be broken down into the following three categories:
-Weapons Usage
-Logistics of a Battle
-Learning the Techniques

The techniques will be learnt in the following groups:
-Ninja tools, scrolls and weapons usage
-Stealth and Detection (My personal favourite)
-Transformations and clones
-Miscellaneous (All other techniques grouped together)

Note about my training: Since I make you specialize in the different categories one at a time, you'll be learning techniques with different ranks in a random order. That being said, you cannot make any Ninjutsu custom techniques until you complete all of the Ninjutsu techniques.

Right now, we'll begin on weapons usage in a battle. Tell me about all of the ninja tools you know of, describe them thoroughly and how they can be used in battle.

Ah, I see

Kunai
The kunai is one of the most common ninja tools used by ninja besides the shuriken. As a dagger, it's mainly used to stab and cut objects such as rope. Besides being used up close, it can be thrown as well. More than often, many shinobi attach things onto a kunai such as an explosive tag. In addition, it's power can be amplified by enhancing it with the user's chakra.

Shuriken
As stated above, the shuriken is also the most used ninja tool. Basically, they are sharp, flattened sheets of metal that is cut into a 4 pointed star shape. The main use for shuriken is to be thrown.

Fuma Shuriken
The fuma shuriken is a larger version of its counterpart. The fuma shuriken, resembles a windmill when it is not folded and their blades are fairly long. They are mainly used for throwing but it can also be used to slash other ninja in CQC.

Senbon
Senbons are long, thin needles. They have very little killing power, but make up for it by having it thrown at great accuracy. Senbons can be used in incapacitate or kill an opponent by hitting an artery or nerve. Another use is to tip the needle with poison and hit their opponent in a vital spot.

Flash bomb
Flash bombs are ninja tools that create a blinding flash of light and are mainly used as distractions. A creative use with them in battle is to throw one right behind you so that the opponent will be blinded and you have time for a follow up attack.

Smoke Bomb
Smoke bombs are little balls, that when thrown at the ground, create a cloud of purple smoke. This ninja tool s used to make a quick escape. Also, smoke bombs can contain different types of gases r such as poison and sleeping gas.

Scroll
Scrolls are easily one of the most important Ninja tools to carry. Because of their small sizes, multiple scrolls can be carried into battle in the front pouches of a flak jacket or in a pouch. Apart from its usage as a medium, the scroll can also be used to summon animals, people and other items to their aid. Some techniques can also be stored in them such as Amaterasu.

Explosive Tag
Explosive tags are pieces of paper inscribed with a special writing. Infused with chakra, they will explode after a set amount of time, or after being ignited by flame. These can be used by setting them around the battlefield, as a trap or attached to a kunai.

Swords
A sword is a long, bladed weapon used for combat. Most ninja appear to have a preference towards long and wide blades while some ninja use shorter swords, mainly for throwing. Of note are the samurai of the Land of Iron who are nearly all seen with swords, and the shinobi of the Land of Lightning.

Got you xd

Let me see...

Kunai: Throughout the entire manga, Kunais have seen to be the main weapon, used by most shinobi that we have seen. Kunais can be used to attack such as stabbing, slicing, being tagged with explosive tags, have wires attached to them to tie up their opponent, or to be used in close combat. Chakra can also be channeled into Kunais as seen when kakashi through the kunai with raiton chakra covering it. There can also be special made kunais.. ex: Minatos FTG kunais

Swords/Katanas: Swords/katanas are used by many. Shinobis such as Sasuke and Killer Bee uses swords alot and its part of their fighting style. As seen by these characters and the Samurais, chakra can be channeled into swords/katana and they add their element to it. Swords are used at most times when it close range combat. There are other different types of blades, the seven blades used by the swordmen on the mist.

Shurikens/Fuma Shurikens: Shurikens are another main weapon used. They can be thrown at enemies and use the shadow clone jutsu, one can mulitply the amount of shurikens they threw, as seen when Sarutobi did it against Oro. Chakra can also be channeled into them too enhance the amount of damage. It can also be combined with other attacks as seen when Itachi used his katon jutsu on the shurikens and sent them. The Fuma Shuriken can do the same this as the shurikens. It can also be desguised as a clone and can have wires attached to it to wrap up opponents or pull them in.

The Bombs: There are smoke and flash bombs which are normally carried around by ninjas in their pouch to be used as an distraction, or to create a way for them to escape or send an attack. The smoke bomb may contain different types of gases that when one inhales, it goes down and affects their lungs and system poisoning them. Flash bomb, is used to blind an opponent with its bright light.

Explosive Tags/Tags: Explosive tags are used by many. It can be attacked to kunais and shurikens then be thrown at an opponent causing them to go off which can be deadly. It can be also be used in close range hand to hand combat as in placing them on your enemy when there's a chance. Explosive tags can be used in jutsus form as seen when Konan had them on her paper jutsu to enhance destructive power. Tags can be used basically for seals. (I can't think of anything else)

Sabre: Sabre serves the same purpose as swords just they are much shorter. Chakra can also be flowed into them. They would most likely be used in close range combat as seen when Kakashi was a kid using it.

Fans and Gunbais: Fans can be used to attack and defend. They are mostly associated with Futon element as users such as Temari can send powerful gust of wind at opponents with them. It can also be used to defend against small explosions (depending on size of fan), oncoming kunais or shurikens or attacks coming from taijutsu. Gunbais serve the same purpose as it's an unfolding fan. It can be used to send gust of wind also aswell as defend attacks like fans. It can also be attacked to a chain and be thrown like Obito and Madara did.

Sebons and Chains: Senbons are are small sharp needles that one and throw on spit at their opponent. They are normally shot at nerves to either kill or paralyze an opponent. They can have poison on them to cause even more damage. I believe they can can also have chakra flowed into them and thrown to do more damage. Chains have been used to either restrain an opponent or help in close range fights (Minato vs Obito).

Sychthe: Sychthe are long and have an curved blades attacked to them to the top. They can be used in fights to stab/slash opponents. It can be used to fend of attacks from kunais and shurikens also. Even help defend against someone coming at you with taijutsu.

Excellent display from the both of you. Make sure all of your replies are of that caliber.

Angle and direction of Ninja tools
These are the realistic aspects of the RP. We will be covering one at a time starting with Angle. These are some of the things you need to keep in mind when fighting in a battle.

Angle is a very important part when battling and if used right it can give you the upper hand over your opponent. It's very important to understand the angles in a battle. This is mainly used with ninja tools (shuriken, kunai and other projectiles) but you can also use this with certain techniques that are launched at your opponent. Just by stating the angle you can confuse your opponent.

For example:Ninja 1 and Ninja 2 are fighting. N1 throws 2 kunai at N2, one at the angle of 25 and the other on 75. The lower the angle, the faster the projectile. Most new people would say:"I intercept the kunai with one of my own, blocking them both." If you use angles, this is where you can score.

Here is a pic for reference:
You must be registered for see images

If N1 threw the kunai at an angle of 25 first your opponent would probably be defending from that one first thus he would fail to notice the other one. If he blocks the first one then the second one would hit him unless he kept his focus. Thus with one blow you can cause fatal injuries. (Credits to Cobalt)

Another neat trick I picked up is the efficient use of a flash bomb. By hiding a flash bomb in your sleeve/hand and dropping it onto the ground behind your position, you'll slyly blind your opponent without blinding yourself giving you the upper hand. Now, this is a nice tactic, however spamming it or over-using it will make you look unskillful and reliant on the upper hand it gives you. Use it sparsely.

Now, I want you to state and describe all of the different types of terrains that could be fought in, be as creative as you'd like. Along with this, I want you to list the different types of weather conditions and their significance to you in battle.

Terrains:

  • Open field: Open field with no type of water source or anything (it can have it), just like a grass plain basically. Or like where three sanins faced of.
  • Forest: We have seen multiple battles in the forest. It can be a tricky place to have a fight because of the trees. Opponents can hide, set up traps. Can easily lose sighting of the opponent.
  • Desert: Sand and earth. Like Sunagakure, no water source around. Can be to advantage of certain shinobi who is used to fighting in that terrain. The heat plays a factor also.
  • Lake/River: We have seen fights taken place on rivers/lakes before. Access to water and maybe a disadvantage to one who can't use suiton. Advantage to one who uses it because many suiton related jutsus require water source.
  • Inner Villages: There have been multiple fights that have taken place inside of villages. (Naruto Pein, Garra Deidera). Inner Village also means Dojos, roof tops like Kages Mansion, Bars, Training grounds, or simply in the village itself meaning there is no specific location (Peins fight/attack)
  • Snow Terrain: Have seen fights in cold climates with snow.
  • Ocean: I believe it was a filler, but there was a fight on the ocean and it can be of great disadvantage to one if there's no land and based on the elements they are able to use. Also, if someone picks a fight on the ocean, they might most likely have the elemental advantage (for choosing to fight in that terrain). It also prevents many jutsus from being used because of the surroundings. Mostly doton related jutsus.
  • Cave: It may be dark and enclosed meaning no exit but one.
  • Bridge: Seen team 7 go up against Oro and Kabuto on a bridge.
  • Open Land: Something like where the current war is taking place. Just open land with no water source, may have it. Another is where sanins faced of with Hanzo, there was water source due to rain.
  • Swamp area: A lot of times there's mist, have trees all around with vines and stuff hanging. Animals running around. Water source, can be dangerous cause it's a swamp and might get stuck in mud.
Weather:

Weather depends on location and ties in with terrain. For example, may fight in an area with no water source and then it begins to rain which is a source. xd

  • Rain: It can rain in many places and it can play a major factor. My village U_U is famous for the rain always falling. Rain provides water source and can alter the way you fight. It may slow down certain attacks, mostly katon related jutsus, or doton related (mud). Also, one must be careful whenit's raining and using Raiton, cause we all know what would happen if the raiton hits the water on the ground if the user is also standing in it xd.
  • Mist: Mist can be created due to the uses of suiton, or two powerful suiton and katon jutsus colliding (I believe) It is famous in Kirigakure. If one doesn't know how to move around in the mist, it can be a huge problem for them if their opponent is an expert in moving and attacking through it.
  • Heat: Heat can be a problem for certain shinobis. It comes down to who's used to it. I'm not sure, but maybe the heat can cause water to evaporate, maybe like a Hozuki clans man, that might be a disadvantage to them.
  • Snow: It snows in certain places and the cold might be a problem for some. Also the snow provides advantage and disadvantages in the case of one being able to hide themself, or maybe uses snow ninjutsus. Yuki clan members.
  • Thunder storm: In a thunder storm, there's rain (water source), lightning to help with raiton related jutsus. Maybe also be some disadvantage to it due to heavy winds.
  • Windy: The wind can e of great advantage to one because it can help increase velocity in certain jutsus.

You're probably wondering why I asked you to do that. Here's why. In certain environments, shinobi exist who can launch attacks difficult to perceive. During rainy conditions, a rain user can sharpen a single or multiple droplets of rain into needle-like blades, granting them the ability to kill you without you even realizing it. The same applies to snowy conditions, hail and etc. Sand users are particularly dangerous in deserts. There are even some ninja which can manipulate the temperature of the battlefield itself e.g. Custom Elements: Arid and Temperature. If you're fighting in a extremity climate (very hot or very cold), you'd be at a serious disadvantage.

Awareness is key. No matter how strong any opponent is, if he or she has no knowledge of your next attack, they're probably done for. Knowledge is power. Being wary at all times and having the necessary skills to perceive all types of offensives are essential to your survival. I've broken down the three main causes of death for shinobi due to a lack of awareness in battle.

Speed enhancements
These can come in many forms such as: Leg Weights, Bijuu chakra cloaks, Elemental armours, Swift Release and the Eight Inner Gates. However, many people can come to access quick usage speed boosts (which aren't continuous) which allow the user to move from one location to another with near untracakble speeds.

The best way to counter these is to first recognize a speed enhancement has been used e.g Leg Weights dropping, a cloak manifesting and etc. After that happens, either manipulate the terrain to your favour (e.g. create a swamp) or construct a defensive shield/armour to protect yourself.

Attacks invisible to the naked eye
Observe the distortions in the air, the sounds they create and so on. However, most of the time this will not help.

Genjutsu/Illusionary techniques
The first step in realizing a genjutsu is observing for anything overly-obvious or something which would naturally probe your character's suspicion. In battle, I want you to observe even the smallest of disturbances in your surroundings and the slightest inconsistencies. I want you to notice, if a tree begins coiling around you, does it produce growing sounds as it emerges ? If a fireball is shot towards you, does the heat of the technique resonate from it and make you feel like the temperature is rising ? If you see an illusionary clone walking towards you, does it bend the grass when it walks ? If you get burnt by something, does the wound sizzle as the burn is inflicted ? Does the water beneath your feet ripple when you walk, or make any splashing sounds ?

Pay very close attention to the senses a technique affects, its fundamental to breaking a genjutsu. If a technique doesn't specify the senses it affects, make sure you don't assume anything. Find other ways of seeing through the technique. Does the illusion respect the laws of reality ? Does the illusion distort happen to abruptly and distorts the natural occurrence of events ? I can't teach you how to realize every genjutsu, I can only teach you the concept of doing so. The rest is up to how much you take away from this training. One thing to bare in mind is, when you're trying to realize genjutsu, don't come up with extremely complicated thought processes or anything which wouldn't be realistic in the heat of a battle. I don't want you to "god-mod" or try to use knowledge your character doesn't have to break Genjutsus. You must be realistic and legitimate in the way you break genjutsus.

All of this is said from my perspective. My bios do not possess any sensory capabilities or a Doijutsu. If you wield sensing or a Doijutsu, you'll have a much greater sense of awareness compared to normal shinobi. You're capable of tracking faster speeds, "knowing" about invisible attacks and detecting foreign chakra in your bodies (Genjutsu). If this sort of thing intrigues you, you might like to look into the Byakugan.

Once you've read and understood the above, post here and we'll move onto the techniques.

I have read and understood what you said. Also, I've always had problems with countering Genjutsu. I got a little help from Noni. He gave me a link to the Genjutsu page that explained a lot and helped me. I know how to get out of some, well the ones that I have encountered. It's a pain in the butt for me man xd
