So I went searching for a laptop for the past few days and I can't seem to find which one's are the best. Like which ones don't overheat, have a strong battery life, etc.

From what my friends told me I heard HP laptops overheat quickly? They also told me to look for lenovo laptops as they are the best ones?

Is lenovo a good brand or what? Or is it just hype? I have a budget of 1 grand.

Are there any processors that I should be looking for as well? I'm not much of a tech. wiz. and I really don't feel like asking the employees as they are going to persuade me to buy the more expensive one.

I believe the two one's I found were Lenovo G500s & Lenovo U310.

Some Toshiba's are good, and Lenovo are good with battery, but last time I had one it went really slow if I had about 4+ tabs opened

Take a look at a Dell XPS 17 L702X. The main thing on a laptop is the processor. Ram, hard drive, and windows system can always be added/changed. I attached a link if you want to check it out. Its something i would recommend. It has an intel core I7, 8gb of ram, 1Tb of memory, and the Processor Speed is 2.2GHZ.

About my friend not knowing what he's talking...that HP overheats or Lenovo is the best one?

both of them what he said is wrong.Every laptop overheats sometimes but HP good,it don't overheats quickly.Lenovo is not the best one. It's sure one of the best ones but not the best .

If your budget is 1k without tax, then I would recommend a MacBook Air.

Seeing as how you're a student, I doubt that's the case.

I highly recommend Gateway laptops. I've had mine for 5 years without an issue, and I'm using a couple of their old netbooks. They are fast, reliable, and they usually come with a strong build quality.

Choose the Lenovo.

It has a faster processor, which is something you want.

You can always upgrade your ram later, but I'm pretty sure 6GB should suffice for what you plan on using it for.

It has a slower processor, which you cannot replace or upgrade and will be a bottleneck on performance later.

Really it can't be replaced or upgraded? Why is that? Proof? :S

I never knew that :O haha that may explain why it's 500 bucks.
