Need help on the order to watch fate

So I started with fate stay might then I watched fate zero. I think watching fate zero after fate stay night made zero so much more badass. But a friend of mines said watching the unlimited blade works anime was unevessary and just watch the movie. So I did but I feel like I'm missing something. And yeah I know I should read the fate manga but any advice also on where to read, which fate routes, etc?

Zero is much more badass. I watched zero first. Doing it that way takes most of the atmosphere out of stay night. You know who people are and what not. Just do whatever

The routes don't have any specific watching order, each route has a different progression of the same story.


Though, fate zero technically happens before the 3 routes so I suggest you watch it first.

Fate zero>Fate stay night unlimited blade works(UBW route)>fate stay night the original aka fate route> fate stay night heaven feels and the only route that is yet to be animated, I heard it's also the longest.

If you want the full experience, you read it like this

Fate/Stay Night Visual Novel (Fate route -> Unlimited Blade Works route -> Heaven's Feel route) -> Fate/Zero -> Fate/Hollow Ataraxia

If you go anime only, you're pretty much forced to watch it like this - since I doubt any newcomer has the patience to wait for HF moveis' release:

Fate/Zero -> Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works 2014/15 -> Fate Stay Night Heaven's Feel.

Though, there are two things to note if you do this.

1. Zero spoils you in Heaven's Feel plot twists since it's meant to be watched after F/SN.
2. UBW is the mid point of F/SN, not the starting point. Fate route doesn't have an anime.

They do though. You couldn't even unlock UBW and HF in the old release without playing the Fate route first and HF is contextualized by UBW and Fate - same goes for UBW being contextualized by Fate, so there's a clear read order.
