I really want to watch the fate series so this is what I found on the Internet. Some people said watch fate stay and night then watch fate zero prequel years back or something then unlimited blade works . But then others said don't watch fate stay and night just go to zero then unlimited blade works but then others said watch zero fate stay night. It's all so confusing and then they say there's like 3 routes or something and I'm like what??? Then there's fate kaleid and others so please if someone can help that'd be very much appreciated because I really want to watch it

If it is giving you this much trouble already then don't watch it instead watch something more American

Personally I would recommend watching the F/SN:UBW 2014 first, then wait for the second half to air this spring. Then afterwards watch Fate Zero. Though if you want to watch it in chronological order start with Fate zero. Do not watch the older ones, because they are poorly done or so I have been told by many.

wtf? they weren't poorly done. shouldn't give a opinion based on someone elses opinion.

OT:Honestly I would watch it the way the animators intended you to see it, fate stay night first, then fate zero, then unlimited blade works.

I say watch Fate Zero first, it's a good anime on it's own. Not to mention you'll be familiar with the world and more attached to the characters.

Then after that I'd watch the one about the dad's HGW, I can't remember the name for the life of me. But watching UBW doesn't matter at this point since it's ongoing and the first season just ended. You'll have a long wait.

Well when I first wanted to get into the series, I did my research and the vast majority hated the old ones. If there were equal the amount of positive reviews, I would have watched them to judge for myself, but the number of negative opinions and reviews were overwhelming.

Not that long of a wait, 2nd season airs in April.

You can watch those whenever, they are basically spins offs that don't tie in with the original story.

Alright: Disregard Fate Kaleid and others.

It's all about Fate: Stay/Night, Fate Zero, and Fate Stay/Night: Unlimited Blade Works (UBW for short).

I've watched Fate Zero and am now waiting for the second season of UBW to come back.

I heard that Fate: Stay/Night isn't that good from some while it is for others.

So here's what you do:

Watch Fate: Stay/Night if you don't care that it might be crap. Then watch UBW and wait for the second season coming soon. And then watch Fate Zero. Or don't watch Fate Stay/Night at all like what I did, your choice and watch the next two.

I know... it's retarded that it's so confusing.

All that's really important is watch Fate Zero and Fate Stay/Night: Unlimited Blade Works because those two are amazing.

I recommend watching Fate/Zero then Unlimited Blade Works (2014). This is the true chronological timeline within the series.
The 3 routes you mentioned are 3 different paths that Shirou can take in his life. The anime gets its source material from the Visual Novel. The 3 routes are almost completely different (coming from someone who played the games). Unlimited Blade Works, like the name says, follows the Unlimited Blade Works route. The 2014 adaption is pretty accurate, as far as the first season goes that is. The third route, Heaven's Feel, is currently being created as a feature movie by Ufotable and Type-Moon, it will be released soon.'

As for everything excepted Fate/Zero and UBW (2014), I do not recommend watching Fate stay/night which is supposed to follow the first route, Fate, because it is not faithful to the source material. It mashes up parts of all three routes, and spoils the other routes. If you really want to watch it, play all three routes, so nothing can be spoiled, then watch it. Otherwise I don't recommend it.

Fate/Kaleid follows a completely different universe with Illya as the main character. It has great music, solid animation, and is more of a cutesy anime. It is not bad, I have watched it. I would not tell anyone who wants to watch it, not to watch it. It definitely has some incredibly bad ass moments.

There is an OVA for Fate/Prototype, but that's it. For all the other routes/variations, you'll need to play the Visual Novels. There are currently no anime adaptions for them except the one OVA for prototype.

If you actually want to get into the series as a whole, play the Fate/Stay Night Visual Novel.

You're not going to get the full experience otherwise. Also, watch Fate/Zero after Stay Night.
