The smartest thing you could do is to keep it and earn up for another car. If it's in good working condition don't sell it, you're going to need a backup car when one breaks down, trust me it just happened to me.

My old Toyota corolla s broke down but luckily I had my f150 as backup to get to work and such while it's in the shop.

he told me he only sold it to me cheap was because he knew I would take care of it, but heres the thing, he doesn't want me selling it because it was his grandmas

I take it he didn't tell you there was a condition attached to it that you cannot sell it ever afterwards. He should have if that was one of his criteria why he sold it to you.

Give him option buy it back if he cares that much. It was his grandma's but he already sold it and yet wants to make you keep it on his behalf.
