Here I had been thinking that Sage mode was just another Kaio-ken attack where it would be an upgrade that would become almost meaningless in the end-game of the Naruto manga but it has taken a front seat today.
It is seeming now that Nature Chakra could play a bigger role than we thought. We found out that Juugo and the curse mark are related to Nature Chakra. As far as I know Nature Chakra was not used by the So6p and it is probable that the Animal Sages were around before the so6p. It would also seem that there is a lot more Nature Chakra in the world than any other Chakra. There are similarities to the Spirit Bomb. We all thought orochimaru was after an uchiha for their doujutsu and to obtain so6p power but kabuto is making it seem like oro's priority was dragon sage mode.
Kishi could even go as far as extending the story past the Madara/Tobi/so6p storyline and go even deeper into nature chakra if he wanted to. The time before the so6p.
