[Discussion] Natsu's Character(Tartaros Arc)

This is probably the first arc in a long time I've actually liked Natsu.. Maybe it's because everyone is getting more focused and he's not having the battles that changes the "tide" he's less annoying and idk he seems more vulnerable..the times we thought he would break in a fight to steal someone's thunder he's actually been the one who needed help.. When he used his brain to find out Mira and Erza was being played and kidnapped.. He stormed the Tartaros Guild and I believe some thought he would solo the entire guild with "nakama power" then what happened? He almost got his soul stolen and instantly got frozen.. Stripped butt naked and tossed in jail and couldn't do anything by himself until "someone" helped him..Lucy saved him and the rest of the guild, Lucy and Happy saved/helped him vs Franmalth, Gajeel and Levy saving the guild and Natsu being helpless) we're getting more emotions out of him instead of him trying to be the hero now.. Like how he sat away from the rest of the group after being saved from the poisoned water saying nothing... Even when Gajeel teased him about him getting mad because Gray got a power up... Natsu didn't say a word..Hes showing getting scared and how confused and pissed he was after crying for Igneel and how he wants answers.. Answers us as readers one to know...I think this is one of the reasons this arc is so successful... Natsu is not the one getting all the focus nor is he the one doing all the work. It's also interesting to see how Natsu acts/reacts around Zeref instead of him being around other villains


I think in a way having Natsu not being in the spotlight will help him as it has for others

While we do know Igneel's death will cause a major shock.. Is it worth having him die when we've been wanting answers as Natsu?

I'll still withhold my feeling for now, while I do agree he hasn't been stealing anyone's thunder this arc, and Silver KOing him was certainly amusing, he just went head first to fight Mard right now, but for now I'll trust Hiro to make this arc beautiful, and yes, I do want Igneel to die for lack of better words; he's a remnant of the past

Yes, natsu's character has being really great on this arc, i was impressed by him. That goes to show how great this arc is. and will continue to be the best FT arc. well, we still have more arcs to continue so i'm getting ahead of myself.
Everyone is getting great development, the fights are well written. But we still have many questions that will get answered soon.

Overall, Natsu's character has been great so no complains from me.

He's been enjoyable so far but I'm hoping for some more development. Hopefully he finally gets it. He's never had an arc dedicated to him which is surprising.

He doesn't need one when he's always in the spotlight in every other arc

I don't see the problem with him having the spotlight to be honest. He's the main male character. What do you honestly expect for him not to get any spotlight? To each his own I guess. :|

As I was saying he just needs an arc where Hiro puts him as the focus and finally gives him some character development. I read somewhere that this arc was suppose to focus on Gray and Natsu so I'm hoping for the best.

I never saw anything wrong with Natsu's character. To me he is a perfect character for this series. I love him and Lucy dearly.

I didn't say him having the spotlight is wrong, but stealing the spotlight is what's wrong, besides that there are some holes in your post, while it's true that Natsu is the main char. he's just one, the manga itself is Fairy Tail(which i suppose was meant to focus on the entire guild Lol) alright seriously now, you can't have him pulling the entire show on his back, and the fact that he's not getting the development but instead deus ex-ing his way through it is what bugs me the most, you can't have the spotlight and not do anything with it

In the general sene, no there is infact nothing wrong with Natsu's character, what's wrong is the other >1000 in the genre, there needs to be some spice added, but anyway that just IMO, could be different for a lot of people, aside from that i have a huge bone to pick with Hiro; slowly but surely the girls in FT are being reduced to pairing fodder, i don't know why but this really gets to me in all manga, especially Erza, she used to be so badass o-k so now i'm ranting, but in a better light, the current arc has done well for more characters well except for Juvia to me, but i'm extremely biased towards her (i hate stalkers, sue me), i so hope it continues like this, so much that before i go to bed every night, i pray for Hiro to not mess it up (that's a lie) ~and rant over

Yes while they are badass, there is becoming a stark contrast between why they were introduced and how they currently are (at least i still have Kagura U_U). Not really sure about the male character part, though i might see it a little, just a tiny bit though. Lastly you really don't have need to say it, FT females while they aren't at the point which i once liked, Naruto females are just awful, like all of them, maybe apart from Konan(#angeladdiction)

Most of the females characters weren't created just to be paired.. And you're not using clear logic.. If people pair them who the hell cares? If they were solely created just to be love interests and have done nothing helpful or contributed then what? Point is the characters I listed all help and contribute

The only female character you could vouch for to being introduced as a love interest of the bat was Juvia.. Yet it doesn't matter since she has been getting better and less annoying as a character

Natsu was always a nice character. But i get your point and not only Natsu lacked with developing, it was the whole FT cast.
But this arc shows that Hiro finally gives development to each of them and i like it.

What i don't get that FT is the only Anime/Manga where people complain about the MC getting too much spotlight. Lol
Naruto, Luffy etc does get the same, so this point is soemthing i will never get.

True, the FT females get great development and fights, they beat the naruto females on development quick. The only pairing war that i see on FT is about gruvia, those gruvia fans sure get mad really quick, i only like jerza,nalu.
