How to dispel a Genjutsu and why

Simple answer lies in what is a Genjutsu. Genjutsu is a disruption of your normal chakra flow that makes you experience an illusion as it scrambles your chakra. We have gone through that so you might ask how does this help?

Ok, if a Genjutsu is a disruption in your own chakra flow, to dispel it you need to create a stronger disruption that will clear that one and leave your chakra on its normal state. So basically, there is only one way to dispel genjutsu: disrupting your chakra flow.

Now, this can be done in 3 basic ways:

1- Altering the balance between physical and spiritual energies in your chakra by disturbing your physical energy. This is done by producing pain. Pain comes from the body and thus it makes your physical energy fluctuate. Because of this fluctuation your chakra flow experiences a spike. This spike is a disturbance that will dispel other disturbances present in your chakra.

2- Altering the balance between physical and spiritual energies in your chakra by disturbing your spiritual energy. This is done by your sheer will power. Its done by forcefully creating a surge of chakra in your body by spiking your spiritual energy. It can be done in 2 ways: through a technique named Kai and through other techniques, like Nagashi, that will produce a high enough surge of chakra through your body.

3- Altering your chakra flow through the introduction of foreign chakra. This can be done by an ally or by entering for example, sage mode or being a jinchuriki. The truth is that as foreign chakra enters your system or another energy (natural energy), your chakra flow becomes altered and thus releases from the genjutsu.

All of these produce a reset-like effect on your chakra flow, making it return to normal.

±± Genjutsu ±±
Genjutsu, or Illusionary Arts, unlike ninjutsu, don't produce a real, palpable, feasible effect; it produces an illusionary effect. With a specific KG however, the illusions can become so strong that the body will be fooled into mimicking in real life the fake effects its perceiving through the illusion. There exists two types of Genjutsu: the passive, non chakra fueled ones (basically illusions to our senses like visual paradoxes and such which have little use in the RP and can be easily overcome through experience and logic) and the active, chakra fueled ones. Within the active chakra fueled ones two subtypes exist: Dojutsu induced Genjutsu and Normal Genjutsu.

Genjutsu works by using chakra to disturb the chakra flow of the opponent, specially in the brain, altering his senses. By doing this you can make him perceive any thing his senses are capable of: pain, heat, cold, tickles, iching, etc etc. A ninja can make the opponent taste, smell, feel, see or hear anything he wants. However, because this is done by using your chakra to manipulate his chakra flow, the ninja needs to be close or, many times, have direct eye contact or even physical contact. This is the main limitation of Genjutsu: range. The further you are away from your opponent, the harder it is to induce the fluctuation on his chakra flow to produce the genjutsu.

How exactly does it work? Well, every one has a balanced chakra flow. The chakra flows in a balanced combination of both physical and spiritual energies. The ratio between them vary from person to person (that is how each person has a different chakra signature) but its always calm and balanced. To produce a genjutsu, a ninja uses his chakra to disturb that balance in a controlled way. This is done in a similar way to ninjutsu, throught both focusing and molding chakra. A fluctuation is then created in the targets chakra "wave length" and makes it fluctuate in a given way. This produces the illusion by scrambling the users link between his Spirit and his Body which effectively is the link between his mind and his senses. To make your chakra be capable of doing the correct fluctuation, you need to use, most of the times, handseals. These help you mold and shape and focus your chakra to the correct wave length you want to induce, thus enabling you to use it to disturb the targets chakra flow.

Description: The user casts an illusion over an area that allows him to manipulate the way an area looks to fool an opponent. He can only change the way the terrain looks, and not any other feature.

Okay so, here I would like you to focus your chakra towards my clone and insert it into its brain; that makes him believe that the surrounding area has changed, but of course within reason. This technique can only change the way the area looks, can't do anything else besides that. So you could change the terrain to rocky area, green plains and even a desert, but you have to be smart about it.

One/three advantages:

• 1. As said in the description, it can be used doubled. Well, that's useful. The second time takes half chakra.
• 2. Enemy may take time to realize its a genjutsu, leaving you to cast another jutsu at him. As he is doing stuff in the genjutsu world, you attack him like fodder ^^
• 3. You can be as creative as you can, whether it be the desert, a volcanic place, hell, or maybe even the sky! You can change a bit of the surroundings so it won't be obvious, or completely change it!

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. Well, if you completely change the surroundings, that's quite obvious. It's a genjutsu.
• 2. It's not a long range jutsu. Can't be used when the enemy is far away.
• 3. It's a low rank, meaning easy to break through.

How you would use it in battle: I'd use it when I'm out of good moves, basically when in the middle of a battle. Although, I may use it at the start, just to act cool xD

How you would counter it: So, I'm in the battle field, and suddenly I'm in a desert. Lel, I'd quickly know it's a genjutsu. I would simply use "Genjutsu: Kai", or like chip a finger to feel pain like what's said in the link you gave me ^^

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I focus my chakra to my opponent, and disturb his chakra flow. I now perform a genjutsu. As creative as I can, I make the enemy see he is in an island, alone, in the jungle. Different animals surround him, whether it be lions, tigers, or cheetahs. Lots of trees surround him, and the lust of blood of the animals is in the air. Eagles fly around, while snakes and monkeys watch from the trees. They are not real however, but the enemy thinks it is. The enemy starts attacking the animals, which I can see as he continously throws punches in the air. Yes, yes, he's in a genjutsu.

Question: Are all genjutsu techs Short-Mid ranged? No Long range?

I tried to be as creative as I can, I hope its enough.

(Genjutsu: Kahen Tonsou) - Illusion Technique: Flower Petal Escape

Description: The user makes five handseals, appearing to dissolve into a shower of cherry blossom petals. These petals surround the opponent, blocking his vision. This allows the user to mask his movement effectively.

This one seems a little useless, perform the big amount of handseals [silly imo for such a low rank technique] then insert your chakra into your targets brain, they will see a shower of cherry blossom petals, this cover his vision. Mainly used to cover your tracks, and/or retreat or whatnot.

One/three advantages:

• 1. It allows you to do something while the enemy is distracted.
• 2. It can also block his vision, masking your movement.
• 3. The petals can be very distracting. That isn't much, but I guess it is.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. It's just a D Rank, but the five handseals are too many for such a low rank jutsu.
• 2. This maybe easy to break through, I mean the enemy won't quite believe you turning to petals.
• 3. Kinda useless, nothing much to see as the enemy can break it easily.

How you would use it in battle: Maybe when I gotta distract my opponent who is on a quite lower level. This will make it at least a little useful.

How you would counter it: After knowing how obvious the jutsu is, I simply use "Genjutsu: Kai", or chip my finger to feel pain, and break free from the genjutsu.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I perform the five handseals. I insert my chakra to my enemy's brain. It In his mind, he sees me fading into a shower of cherry blossom petals. I then become petals, and I fly around my enemy and surround him. This blocks his vision. In the real world, I laught at my enemy who is staring at nothing. He fell under a genjutsu, my genjutsu thatc is.

Description: The user does one handseal and throws a paper bomb at the enemy. The enemy, trapped in a genjutsu will see a clone of the user advancing upon him. As the paper bomb reaches the enemy, it explodes

Ah, perform the seal and repeat the process of inserting your chakra into my clone. While you're doing that, get a paper bomb ready and then throw it at the clone, the clone will see a clone of you racing towards him, but really it's actually a paper bomb, and once the paper bombs comes within the area of them, it goes boom. IT would be nice if this was longer, like mid-range. But you could still pull this off nicely.

One/three advantages:

• 1. While the enemy sees a fake clone of myself, I can do more sneak attacks.
• 2. After the explosion, the enemy becomes very confused, like how I exploded. As he thinks it over I can attack him.
• 3. The enemy can waste chakra on trying to defend himself from the clone.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. Since it uses a weapon, it's a pain if you don't have paper bombs. Won't work.
• 2. The short range kind of sucks, most likely the enemy can see you do the handseal, making them suspect a jutsu coming.
• 3. The enemy can easily find out if that one handseal isn't a handseal for a clone jutsu.

How you would use it in battle: When me and my opponent just finished a few sparring with hand to hand combat, and we are at the ends of short range. It would be nice to pull of this jutsu.

How you would counter it: After seeing him do the one handseal (which is not elemental, nor clone, nor shadow clone), I suspect it. After it runs to me and I confirm it after seeing my enemy relaxing, I simply use "Genjutsu: Kai". If I do not find it out however, after the clone reaches me, and about to explode, I quickly find it out so I use a shield jutsu, a deflecting jutsu or substitute.

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I perform the one handseal. I insert my chakra to my enemy's brain. After I throw the paper bomb at him. In his mind, a clone of mine appears that starts dashing to him. My enemy starts to grab a kunai to defend himself. As my clone dashes to him, he starts to try slashing it. Before he could slash it the clone explodes, which in the real word the paper bom explodes. The genjutsu disappears, and as my enemy tries to think about what happened, I start to go to his place and take the win.

Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.

This technique doesn't need any seals to perform it, as well it goes up to mid-range. I think all you have to do is look at them, this technique allows you to cast a illusion over your target, he will see many clones of you, coming out of the ground and trees, well pretty much all around them. And, if the clones are attacked, they will double, and keep doubling. Use this with the actual shadow clones technique, it would work oh so very well.

One/three advantages:

• 1. Doesn't require seals. That way the enemy won't realize I did a jutsu.
• 2. This jutsu looks great combined with other easy-to-pull of techniques
• 3. It's a mid range gen. The technique looks great and it's also mid.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. After the enemy beats thousands of me and I keep doubling, he'll doubt the clones. Meaning bye genjutsu.
• 2. After the enemy sees me appear from tons of trees, he'll think it is a Earth jutsu. After punching it and realizing it is transparent, he'll realize it's a genjutsu
• 3. The enemy won't fool around destroying all the clones. He'll release himself after getting tired.

How you would use it in battle: After a fearsome hand-to-hand spar we come at mid range. I perform this technique. I can use Earth clones to make you confuse the fake and the Earth clones. While the enemy destroys the fake, the earth clone destroys the enemy.

How you would counter it: After punching around 10 clones and they're doubling, I will doubt it. I will chip a finger to feel pain or use "Genjutsu: Kai".

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I look at my opponent and insert my chakra into my oppont's brain. I make him see myself emerging from trees around him and the ground below him. As he punches the one in front of him, it doubles. As he does this repeatedly more clones appear. After a while, I watch him punch around while I take a rest.

(Magen: Narakumi) - Demonic Illusion: Hell Viewing

Description: The user performs two handseals causing it to appear as if a swirl of leaves surrounds the opponent. The swirl eventually falls away, and after a few seconds, the opponent sees the image of whatever they fear the most, shocking them and potentially causing them to faint.

Funny technique. Perform the two seals, then as always insert your chakra into your targets brain, they will picture an amount of leaves surround them, the leaves will go away at some point, then your target will think they are seeing their biggest fear. This technique doesn't any damage, but it will give them a small shock, and if you're lucky they will faint.

One/three advantages:

• 1. Anything can happen when one sees his fear xD
• 2. The swirl of leaves is kind of confusing, you might think it's like a tree behind you has its leaves falling.
• 3. The shock is kind of useful, like I can send another attack after the shock. The possibility is fainting is also awesome.

One/three disadvantages:

• 1. The possibility of fainting is extremely low. Bios with strong wills will easily break it.
• 2. After the enemy sees trees falling when we are in a terrain without trees..... Kinda obvious it's a genjutsu
• 3. The jutsu is kind of obvious by the leaves. I doubt any people would fall for it.

How you would use it in battle: After some combat and we are still at mid range, I can use this jutsu. While he is really tired after the hand to hand combat he sees some leaves. His tiredness is soooo exhausting that he doesnt care about the leaves. I put him in the genjutsu to shock him, and if he is really tired he might faint.

How you would counter it: After seeing my enemy do two handseals, I quickly get on guard and when I see the leaves swirl, I will doubt it. I will chip a finger to feel pain or use "Genjutsu: Kai".

How you perform it (with as much detail as you can): I perform the two handseals, I look at my opponent and insert my chakra into my opponent's brain. He sees some leaves fall down in a swirly pattern. As he sees it, the leaves become many-er and move in the swirly pattern too. It then fades away after some time, and suddenly my opponent sees his most feared doll—Annabelle. He shouts like a girl and faints.

(Kori Shinchū no Jutsu) - Sly Mind Affect Technique

Description: The user casts an illusion on the opponent that makes them believe they are travelling in a straight line, when instead they are moving in circles. This is only effective on moving opponents. If the opponent travels in the circle for hours, they will be exhausted.

Okay so this technique can only work on an already moving target, one you insert your chakra into their brain, they will think they are moving in a straight line, but really they are going in circles, this gen will make them move all the time, and if you are able to pull this off, the target will be exhausted in a few short hours. Range is neat too.
