Basically kenjutsu means sword techniques, it refers to the techniques that require the use of swords, so users can be ninjas or samurais. Kenjutsu can be used along with ninjutsu, genjutsu or taijutsu in order to cause more damage to your opponent.
The most well known kenjutsu users include seven swordsman of mist, who are well known for their Kenjutsu practices.
I want to learn kenjutsu because I want to use Kenjutsu skills in combination with other nature manipulations and sharingan genjutsus. I also want to learn as many new techniques possible and want to be great RPer, having Kenjutsu with me will certainly give me an advantage in close combats too.

I will try my level best.
Itachi quickly draws out his tanto as he prepares himself to attack clone of his sensei. He holds it in two hands and then stands in Jodan No Kamane stance, forming an angle of 30 between his feet, holding the sword above his head.
He then quickly releases the stress given on the front foot and runs towards opponent gathering a nice speed due to his stance.When he reaches near the clone he quickly lowers his sword and launches a head on attack on his opponet i.e. clone taking out the head of the clone.

Needs a little more detail, which hand you are using or if you are using both hands to handle the blade.

Actually I didn't specify because I was starting my position with holding my sword using both hands, and continued like that while attacking, but I will take care about that.
As Itachi listens to his sensei carefully, he quickly thinks about performing this technique and it's advantages and disadvantages along with it's implementation.
(Ken Rendan no Jutsu) - Sword Barrage Technique
One advantages:
I will be pretty much using it in short range battles, where I can combine it with my sharingan ability of copying the movements. I can even use it with genjutsu, i.e. first making my opponent paralysed and then attacking him.
How you would counter it:
The most effective way I can see is first observing moves of your opponent using sharingan and then dodging it. Other way is stop the slashes using my sword.
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
'OK, so here I go sensei, my first Kenjutsu technique', Itachi quickly removes his sword and grabs it tightly in his hands.He decides to start with long range and run towards his opponent while holding the sword using both hands. He then quickly grabs the momentum and run towards his opponent in vain. 'I am gonna take you down, you bish', with this cheerful words, he quickly slashes towards his opponent. First towards the middle of his body and then towards his neck portion, and then towards chest and continuously delivers about 5 slashes on each portion. Then for a moment he quickly holds the breath, moves a bit backward to gain the momentum and then quickly delivers the final slash in the middle of his opponents body near his chest, to finish the game. 'I hope I did well', he looks at his sensei, and waits for his sensei to answer.

- 1. This technique requires pretty much low of amount of chakra and since it is short ranged technique there are very few chances that I will miss it, which certainly gives me advantage in short range combats.

As his training moves to next technique, Itachi gets more serious and focused as he reads description provided by his sensei. He quickly notes important points and comes up with list of advantages and disadvantages.
(Ikari Nomikomu no Jutsu) - Fury Swallow Technique

I will use it against that opponent,who is weak against Taijutsu. Since him being weak against Taijutsu will give me an advantage while delivering blows. I will even use it in combination with sharingan to copy moves in the short range.
How you would counter it:
The effective way to counter is blocking the punches and then using my short range offensive techs to finish him off. If my opponent is Taijutsu specialist, it will be difficult to simply dodge it, then probably I have to go for short range elemental defensive techniques.
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
Itachi prepares himself for his next Kenjutsu technique. He first gains the momentum and runs towards his opponent without removing sword. When he is within the short range of his opponent, he quickly delivers series of punches, first on mouth, then on chest and within the blink of eyelid he delivers six punches, which makes his opponent(which is clone of his sensei.) go little bit backwards. He then quickly removes his sword using his right hand, and delivers two slashes. First at the chest of his opponent and then near the neck of his opponent, and clone goes 'poof'..XD

- 1. The biggest advantage of this technique is unlike sword barrage technique, I have to deliver only few slashes, so if I time them perfectly and slash at perfect body parts, I can K.O. my opponent within two slashes only.
2. This technique is pretty much effective in short range combos and can be used in combination with taijutsu to amplify it's effect.
- 1. I have to deliver punches, which requires strength and basic knowledge of Taijutsu, if your opponent is skilled in taijutsu, it will prove difficult to deliver punches on vital points.

It can be blocked by fast reflexes and various other short range elemental blocking techniques. I can counter it by using kenjutsu techs such as sword barrage technique by creating an opening when opponent is spinning the tanto.
How you perform it (with as much detail as you can):
Itachi moves on to perform his technique as he starts spinning his tanto. He then quickly moves towards the opponent and starts delivering blows using tanto. First he hits the tanto in the non-vital spots and then delivers the blows on the vital spots making sensei's clone goes poof. He then returns the tanto to his sensei, and waits for next his sensei to tell him about next technique.

1. Pure taijutsu technique so no requirement of chakra if I am in the air already, otherwise I need to apply force on the ground to lift myself upwards.
2. Quiet handy technique as I don't need to deliver multiple slashes or punches, if I will be able to hit vital point in single attack, technique may result in handy damage.
Disadvantages-
1. Jumping in the air could prove a difficult task or in some cases may result in giving away an opening especially if my opponent can fly(like Oonoki) or has flying summon.
2. I have to struck vital point as I am closer to the opponent if I missed it or my opponent dodged it, he/she can use short elemental attacks to harm me.
How I will use it in the battle-
Pretty much useful as a surprise attack, along with a diversion technique, I can jump in the air, move in the short range and I can deliver nice blow.
How I will counter it-
The most effective way is to dodge it and use short range jutsus when I see an opening. I can also use my aerial summons to attack my opponent in the air.
Demonstration-
Itachi first thinks about how to jump in the air, and comes up with the plan. 'Let's use my suiton training as it will also give me an opportunity to taste my suiton jutsus'. Itachi quickly gathers chakra and creates a small wave of water and aims in the ground underneath him, such as he can get enough amount of jump to move in the mid air, and towards his opponent.

With this jutsu, Itachi gets enough of force to fly in the mid air. When he is in the air, he quickly draws out the sword, holds it tightly using his both hands, as he moves at the short range within his opponent, he points the sword downwards and then drills it down in his opponent, causing a serious damage for his opponent. 'I think I did well', Itachi bleams with confidence as he looks forward to the explanation of next technique.

(Bakuchi Tori Kuzu Oujou) – Gambling Bird Arrowroot Death
Advantages:
1. It is useful as it gives me many opportunities to deliver blows in a single technique.
2. I can effectively combine it with my elemental release techs such as Katon to amplify it's effect. I will use Katon usually when my opponent is in the air.
Disadvantages:
1. It will flop if my opponent manages to block the set of kicks.
2. Requires many taijutsu moves, if my opponent is good in Taijutsu this technique won't be that much effective.
How I will use it in the battle:
I will combine it with either Katon or Taijutsu moves to amplify it's effect, I can also use it as a surprise move in the battle.
How I will counter it:
1. Usually using my taijutsu prowess or my short range sword techs.
2. Elemental techs such as Katon shield may prove useful.
Demonstration:
'Time to go some wild', Itachi murmurs lifts his sword and bolts towards the clone created by his sensei. He quickly removes his sword using his left hand and hits the clone using the sword handle, and then without wasting a single moment delivers some fatal kicks.These set of kicks sends his sensei's clone flying, Itachi quickly runs in the direction in which clone is falling. Before the clone touches the ground he delivers a sudden punch to send him flying in the direction of the nearby tree, clone hits the tree and due to the impact, it poofs.
'Whew that was a nice morning exercise', Itachi sits under the tree, and waits for his sensei to tell him about next technique.

Advantages-
1. Nice offensive, short range technique with very less chance of being inaccurate.
2. No need of set of kicks or taijutsu moves such as punches, my sword is enough..
Disadvantages-
1. Short range technique, hence pretty much useless against long range opponents.
2. If my initial slash is blocked, technique will be failure as I won't be able to send my opponent flying.
How you will use it in the battle
Useful in short range battles can be combined with elemental defenses to make sure that my opponent won't get an opening even if my technique fails.
How I will counter it
1. Blocking the initial slashes is the key, don't let opponent push you in the air, either use defense or use taijutsu prowess.
2.If in case above mentioned move fails, and my opponent succeeds in sending me in the air, I will use my kenjutsu to block striking blow.

This one is one of the more used techniques, since it is straight forward and well easy to pull off, what I want you to do is, gather your chakra in your blade and from there, I want you slash downwards to release a crescent shaped slash, at my clone. This technique releases a red wave of chakra, it's handy for targets that are at mid-range of you, and just an overall good technique.

1. Not applicable to short or long range, so bringing your opponent within the range of your technique may require some supplementary technique.
How will you use it in the battle:
The challenge here is bringing my opponent in the mid range, so that I won't waste a single move. I can use supplementary technique for that move. Another way is to catch my opponent off-guard in mid range between the spar and use this attack as a surprise move, can be accompanied with genjutsu as well.
How I will counter it:
Very difficult technique to counter, it is accurate and hence best way to avoid it his blocking it or not allowing yourself to go within mid-range of your opponent.
