Nas: America Is Selling a False Dream

With tragedies occurring what seems like every week in America, rapper Nas decided to address the issue in an open letter via Instagram. "America has spent so much time, money & resources fighting wars abroad and completely fell asleep at the wheel of the war brewing within our cities, neighborhoods & blocks," Nas began.

The Queensbridge legend went on to say that although it looked as if America was progressing, everyone has seemed to take their "eye off the ball." "This is BIGGER than BLACK and WHITE. This is about America selling a false dream." Admitting he doesn't have all of the answers, Nas does know that everyone in the United States has to help the nation improve by bonding together to make some changes. "We owe it to the past, present & future to come together and move this country in the right direction," he states under a photo of distorted American flag. "This is my home just like it is anyone else's."

America isn't just a group of people it's a group of individuals, the power of the people like Thomas Jefferson said, is supreme and the government should be subjected to it. If you want something done, don't just complain about it and then do nothing, actually get out there and do something, Congress, the president, and the supreme court have a lot to think about going on ay a national, state, and local level. Heck things like funding of certain projects, seeing which bill should or should nit get past, for congressman:how to better their own state and fund projects to improve upon the state. For the president among several things, chief legislator, diplomat, signing or vetoing bills sent in by congress, checking on the state of the union, try to stabilize international relations among other several duties. Supreme court is busy filing and seeing out of the thousands of cases narrowed down to less than 100 to see what they can do. Government is made up of people, and those people have a lot on their plate, if you want something done, posting it is one thing but are you going to get out there and strive to do what is right? Many people judge the government out of pure spite and ignorance, you only know as much as you are willing to find out, what the government actually provides, or even the press if they try to dig hard enough. Ignorance is no longer a bliss, it is due to ignorance that America is in the state it's in, the power of the people is being subjugated and we have lost what it means to do proper hard work. I will disregard this twitter feed until he actually does something, like starting a program is one step. But that is just my two cents

On to the point:

The problem is that America has lost sight of what made the dream possible in the first place. Everywhere we turn, there are people trying to ban this, or ban that. There are people trying to tax one population to pay another population. There is always more power we must give over to the federal government.

That is the scam. The idea that we need people in the government to solve our problems.

America used to be free. Sure, no one was guaranteed anything - but when could humans guarantee anything? We are not gods, and the belief that we have the power to guarantee equal outcomes to everyone in our society is obscenely arrogant.

That is the lie.

Basically, America needs to stop being a bunch of candy asses who believe the world owes them something and to stop telling each other what they can and can't do with their time and effort.

Because the world owes us nothing. It will give us drought just as surely as it will give us floods without a care in the world. It will slam space-mountains into our planet with just as much regard as we have for breathing. We may be the giants of the past few centuries and have overcome many aspects of nature - but we no longer have any respect for her as we sabotage the very things that have allowed us to rise to such a state in the first place.

Either way, if he's talking about the nation as a whole, he's wrong. Discrimination and less opportunities for blacks is quite possible on a local state level, but certainly not on a national level.

I would actually say that it's the opposite.

The federal government has done the most damage to blacks and demographic minorities as a whole.

For example - you own a restaurant, assume you have two applicants of roughly equal backgrounds. Being a minimum wage job, they aren't necessarily coming with a huge resume of past performance, education certificates, etc. They both come from relatively spotty sections of town with higher crime rates and both present themselves similarly.

Which one are you going to hire?

The one that can't file a racial discrimination suit against you if you have to let that person go at a later date.

That's who you hire.

It doesn't matter if the suit is frivolous and ultimately dismissed - it's a hassle for the owner/employer to deal with and it's better to hire the person who isn't of a privileged demographic with special legal entitlements.

On the other hand - kids from demographic minorities are admitted into colleges to meet equal opportunity standards. They may come from poorer areas with less family and educational resources during their childhood - and end up struggling to get by in a school that would normally have rejected their application.

If these kids would have gone to a less prestigious university or a community college, instead, they would have been more than capable of performing at and above standards and would have a certificate of education that could be used to better their standing in life. Instead, they were allowed into an environment they were just not prepared to compete in because they are a group with privileged status.

Of course - the federal government has also put into place various prevailing wage laws (and states have done so, as well) and various regulations regarding trade programs that essentially force prospecting tradesmen into union arrangements. Striking out as an independent tradesman or an independent contractor in many areas is next to impossible, despite the individual being perfectly capable of such an undertaking. This makes it difficult for skilled people of lower income demographics to compete in the world of entrepreneurs (which is also under attack by the communists in our government).

The idea that the discrimination stems from society is the same dogma spread by socialists for time eternal to justify concentration camps and ethnic cleansing. The Bolsheviks, Nazis, and Maoists did the same things.

The same thing will happen, here, if we let that kind of dogma rule the discussion.
