It's always been a question that is Naruto's world similar to ours or not at all? One aspect is population. We know that there are 5 great nations and some other smaller ones, and the maps always show only these, but we don't know if there are other countries beyond the borders of this map:

I've found a page-sorry if it's been already discussed-,where Nagato says that hundreds of millions of people live in the area of the Narutoverse-countries. Here it is:
You must be registered for see images

But we haven't seen densely populated metropolises, and we know that it takes only a few days to get from one country to the other. So they cannot be that big. Still, hundreds of millions of people live there, yet the total number of the allied shinobi forces is 80000....

What do you think?

Lmfao i laughed because its true xd I forgot about that line that Nagato said but I think it was just a high number to give a better representation of the disaster Nagato planned to cause. I don't believe their world has that many people

The only places that train Ninjas are the hidden villages these days, so in Konoha konohagakure is the only real village where they train and live. that means that there is a lot more people than ninjas, since even in the hidden villages the majority doesn't even work as ninjas. But as seen many times there are a lot of towns, big villages that together may count up to a few million in Konoha, even a hundred but that's actually hard to imagine. So i guess that there is definetly at least more then a million in Konoha, but hardly plusible that several hundreds live there.

In the whole ninja world maybe, since only the country of rain has seemingly a very big capital, around several hundred million people. Also your counting the time it takes for a ninja to travel from one country to the next which is far faster than if you or me would walk the way. so in practical i believe you are underestimating both the size of the countries as their population.

I don't think so. They often use messenger birds and they always reach the destination in a few hours(half day at most). That means that the continent -where the 5 great countries are-, is not bigger than Europe.Considering the size of the land it would be possible that hundreds of millions of people live there, but we haven't seen highly populated areas except for the main villages, and saying that millions live in for example in Konoha is total nonsense...When Pein destroyed it, it was not that big besides when Naruto came back victoriously and everybody was waiting for him, that crowd couldn't have millons of people. And there are no huge storey houses. And not to mention that we know that there is a desert area, a sea with small islands, lots of uninhabited mountains and there are vast forests and croplands which are not inhabited either. So my point is, where do those millions live? I know that most of the people are not ninjas, but that would mean that only 1 out of 10000 can become a ninja (considering that the ASF has 80000 and let's say that the Narutoworld population is 800million )

So it takes several days for team Gai, who is by the accounts it's team gai, who were racing to the sand country, which is next to the leaf. so either it is very fast birds or Team gai were slacking of. that means that it is larger than just Europe, and that it's spacious enough to hold at least a few more thousend people. It's true that we havan't seen any other towns in the other ninja countries, but only in the leaf we have several in fact. 4 example, the one Jiraiya and Naruto stays in when they where meeting Itachi and kisame. the fishing town before they left the leaf to train Naruto, and the village that was exterminated by Soras father. By going with these facts it's highly likely that there are more towns and villages we don't know of.
there is also a lot of settelments we havan't heard of where they are and so on. There isn't maybe hugh building in konoha but in the earth kingdom it was, the same with the sand and rain.

it's true about that with the crowd and the size of Konohagakure is really small compering, but think it this way. there isn't even nearly enough Ninjas there to be over 16 or 20 k as there has to be, since there so many Konoha ninjas in the war arc which is 80 k. so the simple conclusion is that they are lazy and don't have the energi to paint so many Ninjas.

Ok, but still, hundreds of millions is an exaggeration... And I don't remember that it took several days for team Gai to reach the sand.Max 1. And ninjas have to rest as well...
