So now that naruto(manga, excluding the spin off) is over and the anime isn't far behind, it is fair to have a general analysis of the show without the judgment being to premature. I wanted to know everyone's opinion on where naruto stands in these areas

  1. Overall story/plot including errors/holes
  2. Soundtrack
  3. Characters
  4. rank in anime history
I'd like the breakdown to be
  1. Naruto(original)
  2. Naruto Shippuden
  3. Naruto(Naruto in general)

In my option which I will make short and sweet, the first portion of the series story, I.E naruto original was great. the show seemed to stick to its guns even though the story progressed horribly slow. The fights were some of the best in both series. Unlike the successor, the charaters had to think and devise strategies. The tempo and passion made that neji vs kidomaru fight my favorite fight of all time. The soundtrack is memorable and intense and the dialogue isn't to bad. The characters werent that great since thy were infants in essence but still had appeal that enthralled my interest where at a age not much could keep me still. Infact, at least 3-4 make mp my top 10 favorite character list. The show ranks in my top 30 but nothing about it would push it higher than 20. The fights might have been amazing but it lacked a certain jena as qua.

Naruto shippuden was weaker plot and story wise, at least the main story and plot. This portion of the series was far more interesting and paced better. They introduced many interesting characters and elaborated on old favorites. The music is forgettable and the show really didnt stick to its roots. It barely followed the rules most of the time. This portion of the show seemed to improve on what the earlier version did poor and decline on what made the original great. They messed up greatly by moving focus from the genin 12 to only team7/kakshi. The show wasted much potential and dream matches. If you ask me, its the weaker of the two. The show made up for it's errors with memorable moments and quotes. Ex:kisame and itachis first encounter, itachi sons deidara, anything with pein really, madara vs shinobi army and my personal favorite, madara trolls all. It had great side stories as well.

Now overall as an entire series, the show makes maybe my top 10. I have weird taste apparently and the show which is an instant classic to many is outshined by things like inuyasha, dbz,, code gease, death note, school days(yes I am serious, I loved that show and the ending was priceless), bocono, full metal and etc in my opinion.
Since shippuden makes over what 70-80 of the show, the soundtrack of the 1st can be diluted by the mediocrity of ship. The chacters are some of the best I've ever seen(akatsuki and friends). The powers are pretty interesting and it was always interesting to see how people would win/squirm to victory. Even if they based a few things(lookingnat sasuke summoning manda andmtn somehow transporting himself into Kansas body which somehow doesn't get obliterated by deidaras nule, naruto playing god and creating body parts and obito the friendly ghost..

Someone else's thoughts would be lovly

7/10 Across the board.

The Studio not taking seasonal breaks like other anime and instead filling up time-slots with Filler episodes made the quality and viewer's tolerance low.

The characters are fine although they could be better developed and some have more attention than the others.

Imo no fillers and less creative restrains would have made the difference between 7 and 9.8. The editors/studio should have given Kishi more time and freedom

I feel the same way.

Gintama has almost a many episodes as Naruto but they take seasonal breaks. Because of that there's not as many fillers and the quality is consistent and good.

There's too many episodes of Naruto that's filler because the series is basically year round and non-stop.

I don´t have much time at the moment so I´d like to share how Naruto magnetized my attention.

First of all relating violence and children just gave me the creeps and pulled me into first watching the anime and then reading twice the manga. I believe having kids taking kids-like decisions in adult situations is not only innovative but also well rooted in Japanese culture e.g.: WWII teen pilots, Miyamoto Musashi´s life story -the legendary samurai- so as the starting age for employing samurais in the shogunate era.
it´s raw, cruel, passionate, corny and even tasteful, as it weaves Rashoumon philosophy with all the color and exploits of modern manga. Yes, I am now speaking about the colors of the characters.

I´ve taken the fan path, as i have to be aware Naruto is basically a telenovela for Japanese audience. The moment i started demanding coherence and sense out of the story in part 2 I became bored. Fact is even though I would not allow my infant children someday watching the anime, I might watch it along with them around the ages of 10 I guess.

Take a look at the manga and, the creator´s schedule and you´ll noticed a lack of time to close the story, as the material provided by himself -Kishi- became too vast and possibly drained reasoning of him due to the amount of information necessary to follow each step of the story.

It surprised me nicely how at some moment we thought there really wasn´t going to be any more string to follow regarding Hashirama and Madara story and it actually did, and amusingly. Their short arc is probably the best written in 2nd part as brief as it was.

promise to be back with more accurate comments tomorrow :)

The madara and hasirama thing bored me because that's around the time I noticed kishi loves flashbacks. I soon became annoyed at anything with flask backs. I also hate how senju are gods with no real rationale. I still don't see why moutonnis so special. IMO, the itachi back story was the bedtbside story..
