To the people who asked why it's selfish,Gai was expecting to die.In fact he pretty much wanted to sacrifice himself for his ninja way and comrrades,so it's selfish because for now Naruto denied him a honorable death.
exactly, its ok to save someone who hasn't resolved to die, but gai had already resolved to die and go out in a blazing glory. naruto completely ignored that resolve, which is where the selfishness and disrespect comes into play.
Naruto does not even know that resolve; only Lee, Kakashi, Gaara, Minato do.
All he saw was a comrade dying.
