Three reasons why Naruto can't and won't destroy the moon.

1) Physics as others have stated.
2) The moon, in part, is essential to life on Earth. The ocean's tides would cease to exist and there would be other unforeseen consequences.
3) As previously stated, this is not DB/DBZ so there would be no way to wish the moon back into existence.

Even with the negligible resistance from Space as a whole, how will the inherent "force" of the Bijuudama be fast enough to reach the moon and hit it with enough force that the explosion happens within or near the core to destroy it?

That is the problem, ain't it? We haven't seen an explosion that could do remotely enough power to thoroughly damage the moon. And even if it could, this is space we're talking about; it would take days to reach it, and by then, everyone's turned into jellybags.

This might be a better alternative. We have to wonder though, can Kakashi really go that far with his MS?

If he destroys the moon then they'd be screwed anyway because the moon controls the tide.... there'd be tidal waves everywhere! XD
