In ancient japan if a woman from a reputed clan married a man from a common household the man's surname was changed to the woman's family name . . . . So it applies in this case i guess.

Kakuza, Kazuka, Kazuku and Kakaza come to mind immediately.

Sosuke,Sosori, Fukaku, Kashina, Mikata, Jiriya(and not a typo), Jarya, Sukura, Uchika, Medara, Mudara, Nagoto, Konon, Etochi(yeah ive seen that), Shasui, Hishiruma, Hashurama, Uzamaki, Uzamkai, Azamaki
People, what is so hard in spelling a name?

Who cares, spelling Nazi. As long as you know what they are talking about it doesn't matter.

Interesting. But for all we know, Namikaze is the more uncommon of the two names.

OTOH, wasn't it the 3rd who picked Uzumaki as Naruto's last name? He was probably aware of the clan's significance, and so could've also been motivated by the fact that Naruto was potentially one of the last of the Uzumaki.
