His kurama avatar is kinda ugly in the face. and is slow as hell.

Sorry but it does not make sense. First Asura was not Jin. Secondly Asura awaking his own power by suffering and hard training.
If the Sage gave Asura his power, Asura would have the Rinnegan, but he has not it.

No he wouldn't. The sage also gave naruto his power and it wasn't a rinnegan.

My friend the problem is : Naruto got the Yang chakra from Rikudo and a bit of biju chakra.
Sasuke got the Yin chakra. When Ashura have got only the Yang chakra, than what happened to the Yin chakra ?

It infact does say the sage divided the power of the ten tails. Making kyuubi the strongest and hachibi the weakest. Also it implies that th Sage watched his Sons grow up first and watched their power mature before deciding he would have Ashura be his successor on his deathbed, which is when he split the tailed beast because it would have gotten out of control and came back to life as noone else was strong enough to contain it. Ashura grew to mature his power like Indra, it's within their blood, they don't need the tailed beast. The beast were free to roam. Gotta look at the timeline.

But, is Indra's Susanoo really so giant? or is it just a matter of Kishimoto's perspective drawing and use of the foreground and background?

Just how close is Ashura's avatar to Intra's...many times Kishi has drawn a character who shouldn't really be visible due to being far away at such a size that said person should be a giant up close.

I think all Ps Susanoo are supposed to be of comparable size...but drawing consistently isn't easy.

Ignorance is bliss I suppose. The kind of language thats used here is slightly surprising, stemming from the fact that we're all speculating about a fantasy in someone else's head. For anyone here to say they Know things for a fact that aren't explicitly stated, is untrue by insufficient evidence.

Ashura was born as a child with chakra like his father, Hagoromo and uncle, Hamura. The tailed beast tried to kil them and take back the chakra that they werent GIVEN, but Born with. They defeated 10 tails. MEANING they were born with substantial amount of chakra. More than likely Hagoromo's children could have been born similarly. Therefore Ashura could have his own avatar. Also if Ashura somehow realized his potential and gained powers similar to Indra and Indra had a perfect Susanno. WHY CAN'T ASHURA without a beast!? They're probably inferior to him. Also why can't it be shaped like a fox? It doesn't look exactly like kyuubi. But technically kyuubi was inside Hagoromo when Indra nd Ashura were conceived! Inheriting the physical energy of the Man with ten tails inside of him and a rinnegan! couldn't lead people to assume that such obvious things (not even in the realm of possibility!) NONE OF THIS IS!
